Funny story.
I wore these as well at the airport when we started our trip. I had my new ih belt on me and headed to the security. Packed everything into the box and went to the scanner. On the way it came to my mind that I forgot to put my belt into the box, wanted to turn around but then the security guy told me that I could leave it on. Went into the scanner, monitor shows a red area at the waist area. Sure thing, with this thick belt. So, I have to go to another security guy. I have to undress my belt. He looks at it. Wow. That's a thick belt. So he starts fingering the belt, looking for hidden stuff. Then he approaches me. Now I have to check your groin. Super I think. He starts squeezing my thighs and my crotch area and says, hey that's a thick jeans. That's a real cowboyjeans. I say it is, indeed. It's 21 oz and think, now stop groping me. He says aha. But the fact that it is so thick makes the process of the feel checkup harder. Some seconds later he says: but I think everything is fine… What did I learn. Never leave your belt on.

So many great airport security stories featuring Iron Heart. UHR is the worst by all accounts. Drives TSA x-ray machines crazy [emoji23]
I can vouch for this ::)

Oh man,
Ive done this twice. First I was wearing these exact jeans. Several areas lit up but most noticeably my cuffs. They really went in there to try to find something.
Next I made the mistake of wearing my 25oz 555-xhsib. Everything lit up red. They groped me for a good minute. Guy told me not to wear new jeans (they were a year old at that point).
Both times they were amazed at how heavy duty the denim was.
Now i dont wear em through security if I can help it.

Picked these up during the sale.
My first 888 first 21oz and first OD bottoms!I could have sized down to 35 but they were out of stock. I think I will be happy with these tho…

Just got my delivery, really liking the OD which I'd never seen in person before. Question for you guys on the fit. I can button them easily - no wrestling with top button - but they're a little snug on the hips which is good. And they're a little uncomfortable sitting down (manageable but wouldn't like that feeling to last very long).
That said, I'm wondering if I should consider sizing down from a 30 to a 29. The thighs on the 30s are about as snug as I'd like given that they probably won't stretch a huge amount.
Would appreciate some guidance because doing an exchange would require incurring some additional shipping costs with an uncertain outcome. My best guess is that thighs wouldn't work and, even if they did, I'd need to keep the top button unbottoned for a little while.

Somewhere else I'd read advice about getting them really snug because they stretch. These are my first IHs but other raws that weren't quite as snug in the waist stretched a ton and are now too big (Japan Blue, 3sixteen, N&F, etc.).
But yeah, I hear you, probably will stay put. I've been running a lot lately and probably can't keep that up indefinitely. Easier to do while working from home…

As a father of a daughter who also mocks my selfies, I feel you
That fit looks stellar. They'll loosen up fast where pressure is applied (i.e. the waist, the thigh) up until a point (fabric limit or application limit). I took a pair of 888S-SB from 30.5 to 32.5 but they won't go farther Dang pants got me cutting calories

Selfies are bad enough but selfies of new clothes that get posted to get other people's (strangers, no less!) opinions were a bridge too far.
I sure hope they don't stretch too much. Almost all of my jeans are too big in the waist which is why I've been shopping while cooped up at home.
@neph93 do these look snug enough per you advice? Think you were the guru who suggested that in the random question thread.

I think they look great now and they do look snug without looking tight. "Snug enough" is a value judgment however, and very much based on you, how they feel and your experience of fit. It is therefore impossible for me to judge. From your description and from the visuals I'd say you are good to go. A size down would quite probably be a challenge for you and may result in unwanted discomfort, and a heightened risk of blowout.
But be prepared for this pair to stretch meaningfully. The waist will loosen up considerably (1-2" depending on how they fit now), and the top block and thighs will also loosen noticeably.
If you look through this thread or do a forum search lot number you will notice people wear them in different ways and look great. If you feel like this pair will still make you happy a week or two down the line then commit to them, they'll still look great, just not like they do now.
EDIT: I just re-read your first post. Getting the top button done up is a good thing. Normally difficulties with that occurs because of the nature of the denim, not sizing issues. 21oz is not difficult like 25oz, and not being able to do up the top button because the waistband is too short would be too far in the wrong direction imho.
Tightness over the thigh and hips at the start sounds about right to be. It will dissipate with a few days wear. It should leave you with a contoured but comfortable fit.
