Had to put my loyalty credits to use and boy am I glad I did on these. The fit is absolutely spot on. Thanks to Ben for dialing it in post order.
@duece those look great! Really nice for. I had a couple questions I was hoping you might be able to give some insight into. That mid/high rise top block…how do you like it? I’m used to a low rise Jean I think but have been leaning more towards a less skateboarder cut and more towards something like this. I’ve got some Wesco Morrisons coming and think this 888 would be a nice leg opening. Could you share your opinion on how that rise feels comfort wise ? Super appreciate it.

I'm about to pick up my first pair of OD. I'm understanding there will be stretch but no shrinkage. The sizing for me (size 38) will fit perfect. I'm curious on hemming and whether to take into account the stretching. I'll likely go with my normal inseam, but wanted to make sure I'm accounting for stretch/shrink properly with these.
I'm also going back/forth on whether I go 21oz or 14oz in these….

@Deuce @neph93 Hey fellas!! Merry Holidays to everyone!! Wanted to reach out to the well informed on this thread and get some feedback if possible. Just got a pair of the 888s in the OD. First IH jeans. Have a couple shirts. @Deuce you mentioned in an earlier part of this thread wanting a slimmer thigh and the IH crew finding the right waist to match the silhouette you were after. I'm kind of in the exact same boat. I plan to hem my pants, but want to make sure i've got the fit just right first. I'm attaching some pics (don't mind the post Christmas washed out look on my face haha)
@neph93 I linked you in because, well, duh!! You are the Jedi around here and have been a huge help to me in my personal denim evolution. Thanks in advance ya'll. Hope you're having a wonderful holiday season!!

Hey there! I too just got a pair of the 888s in OD 21oz. So stoked! I'm curious about the hemming questions too. I've never had pants with this level of high rise. I'm wondering if the high rise will make the pants a bit longer in the leg as they settle a bit lower on the hips throughout the day. More room for a bit of sagging if you will as compared to a low rise pant.

I think your fit looks good and the leg will look more settled with a cuff or proper hem. As for the pants falling throughout the day, I find that with a belt it isnt much of a problem. I’m not saying I never have to adjust, but I wouldnt base my hemming decision on it. Since everyone’s jeans fit and wear differently I would pop a cuff at the point of where you would hem and see how it goes. I think 888 looks great cuffed, you might like it [emoji41]

@Mizmazzle That looks like a great 888 fit to me. Keepers for sure. As for hemming, I don't think stretch in the rise will make any difference. All my 888's have been at the same length as my other pants.

@Anesthetist @neph93 Thanks gents!! These are all the little bits of advice I was looking for. Really looking forward to watching these things evolve and get all buttery. I sure do look forward to getting dressed these days!!

Happy New Year boys! Thanks for all the solid feedback. I really can’t convey how much I appreciate all the amazing guidance and camaraderie. I ultimately did size down from a 34 to a 33 and am stoked with the result. It’s much cleaner and trim looking just the way I love my jeans.
Now I’m wondering about hemming. My other favorite jeans hang just like I like them once broken in at 32” I’m wondering if the length is going to stretch out much and how to best choose a length when sending these babies in for a hem job. Thanks In advance. Im dying to start breaking these in!!

I have the 21OZ OD in the 555 cut and went with a half inch more than my normal length, just in case, and I don’t mind a little stacking. I wash them and have no problem throwing them in the drier/Shrinkmaster 9000 after.
Did you find the OD to stretch much in the length after you hemmed and then broke them in? I know they won’t shrink but I’m a bit on the fence with which length to choose. They will be hemmed before I wear them so not sure if they will stretch at the inseam much once I start getting to work on em!!

I didn’t find the length to change at all,not in the slightest, even when they stretched out in the waist, but I do ,always wear a belt. I personally like a little stacking,so I tend to go for a length that’s .50 inch longer than usual. This way they look cool with sneakers or boots. Also they don’t ride up too much if I wear them on the bike.

@Jett129 i think you and I may have a similar style in this regard. I like a little stacking myself. Like to have the bottom of my pant always resting on my shoe/ boot. Thanks a bunch for the input. Crazy there was no stretch in the inseam length. Super helpful info!!

Inseam won't stretch…how should it? There is no pressure forcing the denim to stretch in that direction. The only thing that could change and affect the overall length is the rise and of course the waist. Both combined can lead to a little bit of sagging which now causes your jeans to sit a bit lower and thus "adding" to the length. The inseam length stays the same but the jeans are lower on your legs.
But yeah, cuff your jeans now to the length you want them and feel comfortable with. That's the inseam length you want. If you still want to cuff your jeans, add the size of the cuff you wantto add to that previously determined length. -
Haven’t experienced any stretch in the inseam, at least I didn’t notice. You get yours hemmed or do you plan do wear them cuffed?
I plan on hemming them. I guess when I ask will the inseam stretch, I mean will the leg gain length during break in, Including rise stretch. I’m more after how will the pants change in the way they lay on my boots from new to break in after they have been hemmed.

I've never had a pair of IH stretch in the inseam — if anything they might lose a bit in the first wash, depending on the temp of the wash and whether the denim is sanforized and/or rinsed. You shouldn't get any in the OD, as that process should've already knocked any of that out.
BUT… depending on how much you hem them, you'll gain a little bit at the leg opening, as they get less tapered the farther up the leg you go. Something to keep in mind. Personally I'd love the 888 to be a little wider at the bottom, but that might not be your thing.

Yeah dude they’re not gonna get longer with stretch. This denim probably won’t shrink noticeably having been through the OD process, but you might lose an extra half inch through stacking/combs settling in
