Tattoos

I try not to preach my views about style and placement, but I do have one piece of advice regarding tattoos:
Do it because YOU want it, NOT to impress others. Ask yourself: if no-one ever saw your tattoo, would you still be happy with it - if yes, then you're on a winner. Be honest with yourself.
that is all!

@CLJ:
Everyone is different and takes it in as such. Let your artist guide you through it and enjoy the experience. For me it is almost meditative…which is not to say it is comfortable, because it isn't. I love mine and regret none of them. If anyone tells you it is a passing fad, they're ignorant. Tattooing pre-dates Buddhism, Christianity, and Islam. Ancient Egyptians tattooed, as did the Vikings. Tattoos are here to stay. Pretty cool to be taking part in a tradition that is older than written history.
Ötzi the Iceman had tattoos, which correspond to acupuncture points. He also predated all of the above that CLJ mentioned.
At 5300 years old, they're the earliest known tattoos. It's obviously a very long running fad.
