Giles and Paula Add a Room Onto the Side of The House

@Giles there’s a tool you can make with some
Rebate and he ay gauge wire and a two Man method that uses flat nylon straps. Let me draw up
Some rudimentary (very) directions and I’ll get back to you ASAP. -
I’m excited about the the building regs person.
So, we had to divert the down-pipe to get the last joist in. Reckon the building regs person will be happy with our solution [emoji4] ?
As long as it doesn’t leak they can go for a long walk off a short pier. Looks like a good temporary bodge to me.
That internal roof is giving me the horn though. I do love a nice bit of framework, not to mention the lintels and joists [emoji7]

Everything going to plan at the moment, in fact slightly quicker than I had continged for…
Roof (bar the ply upstand) is ready for the insulation, Alwitra and lead work. That should start tomorrow...
And the services that need to be in place before we Celotex and screed the floor are in place…
@neph93 , you'll be disappointed, the build regs person is on holiday, so I took a vide of the stuff that she is interested in, hope it'll be enough for her….

That must be nice. I'm envious.

I'm just waiting for the major fuck up. We had one issue that kept me awake at night last week. Some of the joists had been made the wrong length, which would have meant the lantern was going to be off centre and thus screwing up everything. Les fixed it the following day within a couple of hours. The Posijoists are amazing, but when you hit a snafu, good old-fashioned timber joists are a lot easier to re-jig…

Hey Giles. How’s the stone work going? I wish I could Come put it down with you guys. I miss the work and it’s be great evo on my IH gear
-
Stonework not started yet. Scaffolding is where we need to lay the stone. I reckon that taking the scaffolding down is 2-3 weeks away - Need it up there until the coping stones are laid, which can't happen until the roof is completed…I'd love to have you do it....would free Les up to do more stuff inside.

Had a conversation last night about progress on the house and I found out that the plumbing fixtures that were "ready to install" two weeks ago were in a warehouse in North Carolina and couldn't be shipped until today because of post hurricane flooding. Who needs faucets, after all?
-
That looks spectacular Giles.
Scaffolding is often the culprit. I can’t tell you how many times I was called to
A job to be asked why I hadn’t planted or laid my stone yet. I silently walked out of The job trailer over to the scaffolding. with pointer finger extended, I emoted this question “ how the fuck am I supposed to put my material in under this erected scaffolding. -
omg underfloor heating.. what a dream…
-
i guess i've never found a right season for it wherever i've lived.. but it'll definitely be in my future house..
