IHM-27-OLV - Sateen M-65 Field Jacket - Olive

Anyone know if this fabric will shrink at all? I got it in a size L and the sleeves are super long on me… I'm gonna take it to my alterations person today to see if they could shorten the sleeves (and still keep it looking good) but if the fabric might shrink (with wash and dry) then I'm a bit hesitant to get it altered...
Thanks!

Hey all,
Not to stick my head in here in case I'm misunderstanding, but this jacket isn't completely sold out :-\
Hit me up at Chase@shopcanoeclub.com if you want sizing questions or if I can help out with anything else… just helpin' y'all get into this jacket before the Boulder locals gobble it up. They're technically not online yet so you'd have first pickings.

Thought I'd chime in here as well… I couldn't decide on release day so I bought both Olive and Grey (size L) and recently lucked in to the RMC version for a good price. At this point I will only be keeping one of them so pretty soon I'd expect that a size L will be coming back to IHUK in one or both colors olive and grey...
Anyway, pics below for comparison purposes for those interested! (and one bonus pic showing all 3 + the older OD version!).
Initial observations are that the IH version, as expected, is significantly more heavy duty and better put together which is not entirely surprising... some key differences between RMC and IH are:
- RMC version is lighter weight
- IH version has stitched in lining
- RMC version, the hood can be laid flat against the back since the lining is not stitched in
- IH version, hood must be rolled up in to neck because lining is stitched in - IH version has hand warmer pockets and internal pocket
- Even though pics may not reflect it, RMC and IH olive color are very close in color with IH variant feeling slightly heavier weight
I really do love both the IH and RMC versions for different reasons but your opinions are certainly welcome!

IH-OLIVE wins that round… GREY #2... RMC not even top ten material...
Got to agree with Seul - he speaketh the truth (imo)

I'm clearly showing a bias here but the IH olive wins hands down. I'm sure some might prefer the RMC version since they're a repro company but they charge a bigger premium, which to me isn't worth it when put alongside IH

I'm strongly leaning towards keeping the IH Olive version over the rest but still on the fence between RMC and IH in terms of which one I like more… the RMC version fabric feels floppier (which I like).
Any ideas if the IH fabric will loosen and break in over time? I imagine that it would but thought I'd ask the experts in case anybody has any definitive answer on this type of fabric and how it breaks in.

It's a new fabric so no one really knows but it will soften with wear because cotton based fabric does.

Since it is all cotton, you could give it a gentle wash and that would likely soften it some. The ventile lining should be ok if you use something gentle, like Dr. Bronner's.

I think the real test should be which keeps you warmer imo. The IH m65 has waterproof ventile lining so it’s going to give you extra protection. How does the RMC m65 compare?

IH is warmest but not by a lot. Where I live it doesn’t get terribly cold though. I’d say RMC feels like a lighter early fall / spring jacket but the two are pretty close. That being said, given the waterproof ventile lining and other features mentioned above I have opted to keep the IH olive. Already dropped it off to bring up the sleeves a little! Grey one will be making its way back to IH UK if anyone is interested!
Now my decision is whether or not to sell the RMC… never thought I’d end up with 3 M65’s but I may need to wait until next spring to decide on that so I can see which jacket fairs better in warmer weather. Thanks guys!

You could keep the RMC m65 as a backup. There’s no such thing as too many jackets [emoji110]
