It’s a complicated topic and shouldn’t be taken for granted that all washing routines are the same. If people wash carelessly, then they might not get the same positive results. Everyone has their own preference. Washing routines have been repeatedly discussed on this forum, but for posterity I wash inside out on “warm” usually (ice cold if my jeans are covered in trichomes, to allow the trichomes to fall off rather than get sticky), and take extra care to remove them promptly after a low spin cycle and shake out and smooth the wrinkles. I hang to dry and eventually turn them rightside out when damp, and put on before totally dry and wear around. If the jeans are still newish I make sure to do this while still slightly damp to help reinforce the creases. If they are evolved, I don’t need to do this every time because the fades are essentially set and I can let them dry completely before wearing again. Your patience will be rewarded…

If they are still brand newish, a soak may be preferable to a full wash cycle for obvious reasons. Sometimes I’ve done a soapy soak followed by a clean water soak to get them clean. $400 jeans deserve extra attention in my opinion. r/rawdenim can say what they like, the proof is in the fades and longevity…Iron Heart for life!

Fantastic fit @Smiladon. Surprised you all have very minimal if any knee bags with such a slim fit. My heaviest IH (appear heavier than my 666 uhr), 634 sexih13 developed some and I did everything to prevent.

you mention trichromes, is this after a day of trimming, or just walking around?

Thanks @Jdub
I think I know what you're referring too and I've only had that happen when i wash a pair and then wear them when they are still a bit damp and I get big front knee bags… So, i don't do that anymore. -

Trimming as well as Harvesting, De-fanning, Hanging and Packaging. Trimming days are my favorite. I get to bring out my Japanese Chikamasa blades (b-500sl are my preferred style) and manicure beautiful buds all day. I’m marinating in an ambient haze of trichomes and I love it. Actually got banned for posting pics years ago, so I’m only gonna describe it now lol. The cleanest days are the water hash or freezer days.

I can’t relate to this phenomenon, 634 is all I have and maybe they aren’t tight enough around the knee. Seems like an inevitable consequence of bending your knees and moving. To each their own….

Aha, I don't hear the word trichrome often, so I had to ask. I lived in Humboldt Co. for 9 years(2001-2009) in my 20s. Never had anything fancier than a fresh pair of fiskars for my work, but I knew people who had German and Japanese pieces to trim with and they looked nice. Keep up the good work!

Humboldt back then must’ve been a trip! I’m like an IH addict for the tools of the trade, anything worth doing right? Here’s my current rotation, minus my big bypass shears for cutting down whole plants:

No better way to describe it!
Tools are looking good too!Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Cool story, @twin! I had been wondering for some time how you got such a tear in 25oz denim. I guess the term denim armor is there for a reason!
