The Flat Head - NEWS

cheers. i was wondering if anyone in ueno stocked them but i couldn't recall from memory..

I received an email this morning from The Flat Head and most of its core production will continue. Basically, ambitious full new collections will cease but core ranges (jeans, tees, flannels, leather) which they do so well will continue.
It will be interesting to see in which direction the new brand goes.@Danny RnH I saw that TFH filed for 'Civil Rehab' at the end of the summer. I was just curious for a brand update…

The Flat Head is planning production again now. The extent of any new collections is still pretty vague but we should learn more in the next few months

That's interesting to me because their largest size was like a 44 chest before, everything was extra medium. Even when I was super skinny theor stuff was always way too small for me.
-
I don't know about the t-shirts, but the flannels on sale at Self Edge have definitely increased in size. Size 44 used to be 44" chest, now size 44 is 48" chest. Their flannels are good but its hard to top Iron Heart there. What The Flat Head did so well were the dobby stripe shirts and native check shirts. I hope that those return.

After being pampered by IH for so long, sizing on The Flat Head has always been an issue for me.
-
They are one of the few brands other than IH I've gotten stuff from and haven't been disappointed with (them and Indigofera). I had a white, grey, and green flannel from them I thought was awesome. But it was way too small, so I returned it.
I wouldn't ever buy another brand of jeans again besides IH though. But some of the Indigofera shirts are really great and not that expensive for what you get.

@Filthy:
I wouldn't ever buy another brand of jeans again besides IH though.
Why's that? Personally I keep trying to buy other brands, but can't bring myself to do so.
-
@henry_david what Kasi said… IH jeans are heavier. Like for example a 25 oz Samurai jean is like an Iron Heart 21/23 oz weight.
Plus with the exception of maybe Pure Blue Japan, IH jeans look the most beautiful and they have the softest hand.
Edit: also I will admit another reason for my loyalty to IH is this forum, the members, and I think Giles, Alex, and Paula are really cool dudes.
It's hard to imagine being able to find something I'd like more than a pair of XHS and I only have so much time and so much legs...
-
Good enough for me, @Filthy. I have a pal trying to get me into some TCBs (I'm looking for lighter denim so I have more than just 21oz and 25oz) but I keep feeling like I'd rather buy some 14oz IH or a pair of the indigo wabash instead.

Please see above edit too. I am at work and these are all hurried responses….

I second what your edits say.

Some rad looking western flannels from The Flat Head in the Rivet and Hide thread today.
-
I'm personally glad that they adopted more western sizing. I really hate that I'm sized out of many high-quality brands such as Stevenson, Momotaro, 9Lives and others.
I know there are going to be those that disagree with me on this, but with tops, I think that numeric sizes should indicate what size chest fits that shirt. So me with my 44" chest needs a shirt to be somewhere in the 47-49" range depending on cut.
That "Doady" pattern is awesome, if I didn't already have an awesome orange/blue colorway in the IHSH-263-NAV I'd be seriously considering picking up the FH shirt. I'll be keeping a side-eye on their stuff in the future.
