Good morning
Just new to forum, it’s really fantastic to read all the advice experience! Invaluable. Thanks!
I have recently purchased a pair of 555-XHS. I sized up to 34 to give a little more room but as I have been wearing them they are stretching a little more in the waist than I expected.
I have read a few things in the thread about shrinking and wondered whether it is better to hot soak then warm wash or straight warm wash to get more shrinkage. I think shrinking these will really make them a perfect fit. Also on previous denim I have washed I get those awful fold/crease lines (always seems to be in the same place). Any suggestions of how to avoid this, esp with the 25oz?
Love these 555 though. I think they are going to be my favourites.
Thanks again!Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

@ejwop the XHS has a little shrinkage in it (assuming you haven’t already soaked or washed). To get the shrinkage out either washing or soaking would be fine.
Soaking needs agitation to be effective but has the advantage of being gentle.
Machine washing is most effective, but if you machine wash you increase the chance of those lines
To avoid those, I find the following method to help:
1. Using the shower head thoroughly soak the jeans.
2. Turn the jeans inside out and soak again with the shower head.
3. Still inside out, put them in the machine and wash them have the spin on the machine as low as you can, or better still turn it off.
4. Air dry.The thorough soaking beforehand makes the denim a little more supple with helps to avoid abrasion at the creases which is what gives those lines.

Excellent thank you - great advice. Ill give it a go and report back.

How difficult is it to stretch these back out when wet?
-
My size 33 634 measure a little over 36" I was going to go with size 34 in theses. Good idea?
-
The size 33 have stretched to almost 37. If I go with a 34 that measures 35.2 will I get pretty much the same stretch out of the 25iz that I did OD 21oz? I am prob overthinking this like i do everytime I'm about to cop something

It does not stretch as readily as OD 21oz, nor as much. It will also loose half an inch or more with a soak/wash.
In general, XHS will end up slightly larger (by about half an inch), than published measurements after shrinkage and stretch has happened.
(Edited for clarity).

Thanks Guys! I asked for the measurements on largest 34 and smallest 35. I will go from there.

I'm a bit nervous going from 634 to 555 but I'm getting tired of the bigger leg opening.
-
@BD81 - have you seen the 633-XHS from SelfEdge? It's the top block from the 634 with a taper leg. I'm wearing my pair right now. They are definitely roomier than the 555.
I also have a pair of 633's in 21oz. Both have an 8" leg opening.

I did look at them briefly but my size was sold out. 13" thigh opening on these will be plenty for me it's almost what my 634 thigh was marked at. What size are your 555 xhs ?
