IHJ-54-BLK - Japanese Horsehide Rider's Jacket with Collar - Black (Tea-Core Dye
-
I have the IHJ-54-BRN version of this jacket. I use the side gussets often on motorcycles, vehicles, and just sitting. Pretty much forget and leave them open. Outstanding jacket and the side gussets are much appreciated and very useful.

great look on last photo
and thank you for explanation to everybody!
Now I do see the usefulness of this zippers and understand when to use them.
but after some calculations decided to buy this jacket from SelfEdge, because of some cost reasons.thank you for everyone, especially for @daltmeyer who helped me to make a choice in different forum threads

Glad to help @Bulatik85. I am sure you will love the SE edition of this. I have their version of the IHJ-35 and it's outstanding.
I'm not sure what happened to that top photo. It's not that blurry on my phone I didn't think. Oh well I still like that shot a lot.

Your jacket looks fantastic @daltmeyer !
I have the SE IHJ-35 also and, as mentioned previously, it's my best fitting leather jacket (hence my decision on the 54). However I only got that version because I liked the side pockets and red/black flannel lining; I would have been perfectly happy if it retained the side zips also. The 54 is different enough with the collar and side zips to provide a completely different aesthetic - glad I was able to score both.

Thank you @Manticore

Another sizing data point: I stopped by The Shop Vancouver today to see TJ and tried on the XL 54 he has in stock just to compare to mine. I tried it on with an IHSH-229-SNO underneath and, even with the UHF, it definitely felt and looked slightly roomier than my XL in the chest, hips, and waist (fully zipped with side zips down).
I didn't think there would be much variation within the same size run but it seemed that way to me. I also don't think there is much chance of meaningful stretch in this horsehide but someone more knowledgeable than me can confirm…
-
My experience of these sorts of boutique, small batch pieces is that they are often slightly different in the "same" size. I wore my XL today over a UHF and it was definitely snug. With just a tee or ordinary shirt, it's perfect. I prefer a jacket this heavy–-all horsehide is like that to me---snug and not heavily layer. (For more layers I prefer cowhide.) Good luck @Manticore. I will post more pictures when the jacket gets out more.

Agreed. Perfect.

Excellent work to get that so right @Bulatik85

Thank you guys,
The size looks perfect. The quality great as usual, looks bulletproof
The main things which I like about the IH clothes are the trust, that you buy a quality thing, which is not always so self evident with other brands buying online, even for bigger money.
Then I really get a good set of emotions with each item, I am happy to wear these things and never regret about spend money. -

Agreed, congratulations. That’s a killer jacket and a killer fit.

Perfect fit @Bulatik85. I would love to see a photo with just a tee. I have this thing where I have leather that I layer and leather than fits a bit more snug for simpler, lighter fit and feel. I sorta' struggle to get both right in the same jacket. Just curious your impression of the jacket less layered.
-
Definitely works perfectly both layered and here just with the tee. Nicely done. I look forward to seeing more photos as the jacket breaks in and gains patina. Please don't forget us, I'm sure I'm not the only one who wants to see the progress, @Bulatik85 !

yes, I will post pictures after some wear.
now I am waiting for the suitable weather conditions, I live in cold climate(during the winter season), so need to wait for warmer days… ::)couple of questions, since this is my fist horsehide leather jacket:
the leather is "not soft"(don't know correct english word for this characteristic) out of the box, this is might not be the correct description, because it is soft in general, but still has some "carton feel", I believe it is common for horsehide leather and it will break in with wear.
from the patina point of view, does this leather created to have patina? like tea core leathers? of cause any leather would have some patina with wear, but just wondering if this leather specially made to gain patina quicker?
