Luggage Bags and Packs
-
I have accumulated some bags I don’t use but don’t want to get rid of (like a couple Acronym messengers) but I’m with you on less is more generally speaking. Generally the ones I use (not counting hiking, skiing, or mountain biking) are my Rofmia Day Pack unless I need the capacity of my Defy VerBockel and a B&R carryon. I need a replacement checked bag at some point but I’ve found bags that make me happy.
-
@mclaincausey remind me, which Acronym messengers do you have?
-
@veloaudio 3A-1 and 5A-TS models from long ago and an attachment or two for the latter. Also added a Bagjack laptop sleeve for the latter since it pre-dates models which included them.
On balance I just like having the load evenly distributed on my shoulders.

Carryology have done another collaboration with GoRuck, the Kaidan 3.0.
It consists of a GR1 in 21 and 26 litres, a GR2 in 26 litres, a Bullet Double Compartment, a Kit Bag, and a Shadow Pocket. All are made from Challenge Ultra, an UHMWPE fabric.
They're releasing on 18th and 19th December at 1 pm ET.

Kit bag would be the only one that interests me but I'm set on my travel duffle

The 26L is the most interesting of those to me in theory, but it doesn’t fill a justifiable gap.

Jonesing for this fucker - thanks @Graeme

@veloaudio hey man, good to see you around these parts

@Giles 2300 euro tho….. hard to swallow

Price is steep but I've always liked the design aesthetic. I also like "weekender" they did for Art & Science in Japan.
Would be a great bag for hauling around on the boat

I’ve been traveling more lately and thinking that my occasional back and shoulder pain might be tied to schlepping heavy backpacks and duffles. So I looked for a made in Japan wheelie bag. Ended up with a Proteca from Ace bags. 1 trip in, so far so good.

@68degreesorless Nice, I've been looking at one of these for a while. Just can't seem to pull the trigger on a rolling suitcase. Switch to a duffle many years back and haven't really looked back

Tried to order one these back in early 2021 and he cancelled the order on me in July (health reasons, no hard feelings). Fell off my radar for a while but I recently managed to score one second hand. I had ordered a custom in 500D Cordera but this is VX42.

@Graeme Ah.. nice. I had one of the originals 30 years ago, but it had been stored in a damp basement at some stage and had to be thrown out. As far as I recall it was painful on long hikes fully loaded, and quite short in the back...

I have been using my Jansport Driver 8 for the past 6 years. Durable and versatile luggage bag, the only downside is its weight as a backpack.

I thought we had a travel tips thread but couldn’t find it.
Anyway, got this 24k mAh Anker battery on a recent sale to replace another Anker with something more compact. It is such a great battery and it allows you to charge it will also discharging it to charge devices, which I missed on the last one. Then I got a case that easily holds it and a magnificent Anker charger and various cables. For any who travel a lot, it’s a great option, and it can charge or at least delay discharge of your laptop battery.
Has a helpful screen too:
