Greetings from the land of mis-fit toys. Since the 633 doesn't have a place of it's own & it's the love-child of the 634 I wanted to share a quick post here:
My first acquaintance with Iron Heart (quality denim in general) was the 777-XHS which got sent back bc they were too snug(mind = blown, WTF am i doing here, i'm in over my head). Those led to a killer pair of 777-UHR which I dearly love & several subsequent pairs. I picked up these 633's from SelfEdge to finally reunite with XHS, the 25oz king of denim.
I wanted to share my before & after hot-wash/dry measurements to drop some bread crumbs for others and hopefully learn from the vet's here what to expect.

Lovely pair and a great relaxed fit @hoppy_IPA
Thanks very much for the documentation as well. Always valuable. I'd say you got the shrink out as those dims look about right for XHS. No more surprises in store.
The "King of Denim" moniker is real

And kudos on the 2500HD - great stance on that truck.

Fit pics of my first Iron Heart purchase.. 634's have since been machine washed once at 30C, and hot-soaked at 80C, and no longer feel/fit like lumber Thank you @Graham for the reassurance that the fit was correct, and this would happen, as it most certainly did. They feel fantastic after a few weeks of wear and some IHUK hemming. Cheers!

Looks like a good fit. They’ll continue getting softer over the next few weeks or more, keep the updates coming.

Professing from home at least until September. Ironheart works at University or out here on the farm.

Sizing question as looking to pick up a pair of these at the end of the month.
The 634S fit me well in size 34, snug to begin with but have stretched out to near perfection. Based on circa 1 inch shrinkage in the XHS, should I a) stick with the 34, give them an initial warm/hot soak to get the shrink out and rough it out with them a bit tight, hoping that they'll stretch back out to where I want them (which is circa 34.5 in the waist), or b) Go with the 35 which I suspect will fit well, if on the large size out of the box, soak them and expect them to stretch back to pre-soak sizing?
I guess in a nutshell the question is are these likely to stretch beyond pre-soak? I'm suspecting option a) will be better for me as I'd rather have them on the fitted side than excessively baggy. I just don't want to have them too small, particularly on the old thunder thighs.
Help appreciated!

They will almost certainly go past initial measurements. Any statements on shrinkage are best guess and the amount will vary based on a number of factors so that stated shrinkage of 1” is being on the safe side. Personally I have not had a pair of XHS shrink a whole inch in the waist and they will stretch out an inch for sure.
As far as thighs are concerned, they will shrink about one third of an inch and you’ll get some of that back.
Depending on your washing routine, you can choose to wear them for a week or two to loosen them up before the soak. This should cause them to stretch out a little more easily post-soak and may also eat some of the shrinkage you’ll get with a soak.

First, my well-worn pair about the most comfortable, wonderful badassery ever in jeans. It's cold and usually wet 9 months a year where I live (and it's not even Scotland) so it makes it easy to appreciate the weight.
My experience is that 21oz has quite a bit of stretch, 14oz almost none, and 25 just a tiny bit and then it goes back after a wash. I use that basic formula to decide on sizing. If I'm in-between sizes (now that I've lost a ton of weight), I go down on 21, try to be spot on 14, and don't get 25 too big because it will give some. I prefer not to have to wear a tight belt, just a belt. I'm not sure this helped. The Denim Learning Curve is personal but IH makes it easier than any other brand for service, sizing, and advice imo.
