@goldstone0 then definitely try the 888

I’m really hard on knees. How should I get them repaired? And where? I still have material from when I hemmed them.
-
@Alex one knee still in tact but getting ready to tear. Would the free service reinforce the other knee for me? Or would I be better off waiting for them both to rip
-
Received a new pair recently. Unbelievable denim.
I will say that even with a scalding hot one hour soak, I got very little shrinkage, nowhere near an inch in the inseam. Maybe a half inch? Maybe.
I may need to get hemmed slightly shorter.
Small concern though, I’ll be wearing these for years.
-
@drewfonse They are a wonderful pair of heavy denim. I hemmed mine to 34" and I typically look for 33" inseam. When they were new I cuffed them about an inch.
But now after 2 washes and them molding to my body I have noticed I can uncuff them and wear them stacked without issue. The heavy denim keeps them from sloppily stacking on my shoes or boots. Keep that in mind if they are a bit long now as you could get the same results I did.
-
Hmm interesting. I have a bigger than I’d like cuff right now. I may wait to hem further. I soaked warm, got no shrinkage, soaked scalding hot and got a little.
Gave me the impression that I wouldn’t get any more. I understand what you’re saying about the denim relaxing over time. Right now there seems like there’s too much material starting at the knees and bunching up at the cuff. Not way too much, just not as crisp as I would like. But I’ve only worn them a few times.
Thanks!

@drewfonse for reference here’s a photo of how mine look now uncuffed, and the you can see the abrasions where I used to cuff them. This doesn't tell the whole story, but adding the picture in case you find it useful.
You can see some of the stack is on the shoes, but some is at the knee too.
-
@drewfonse you'll lose a tad of length with creases around the knees too.
-
@drewfonse another thing to consider is throwing them in for a hot wash. The agitation in the washing machine will get more shrink out of the denim as well.
But I also agree, once you start wearing them and they mold to you, they have a tendency to take shape in just the right ways.
-
Good advice thanks guys
-
Hard to really see in the photo, and the rest of the fit is spot on for my tastes, but the knees and below and a little elephant-y haha. Love em. I’ll see how they shake out over the next few weeks and shorten a little if needed.
-
@drewfonse looking good, you may find when you shorten these or give them another roll that little bit of excess around the knee will drop out. If you haven't already make sure to wash/soak these bad boys before getting them hemmed/shortened as you will loose approximately 1 inch in the length which you might find is all you want especially if you going to have a small roll or two
-
Thanks, yeah, I did a scalding hour long soak. I think taking off just under an inch will be perfect. I have a pair of the 14 SBR which are a little long too, so I’ll send them off to Williamsburg garment and that’ll be that.
On topic, amazing denim!
-
@Aetas - cool. Worn in and ready to go
-
you will get more shrinkage with agitation than just soaking..
-
I can’t believe how much more comfortable this is than the UHR. I sent the XHS for additional hemming and wore a new UHR for a few days. Put the XHS on right after getting them back and wow. Hyper comfy in comparison. Gonna be hard to reach for anything g but else but these on 75 degree and cooler days. Amazing.

@drewfonse the best!!!
