IH-888-XHS - 25oz Selvedge Denim Medium/High Rise Tapered Cut Jeans - Indigo

@drewfonse you'll lose a tad of length with creases around the knees too.
-
@drewfonse another thing to consider is throwing them in for a hot wash. The agitation in the washing machine will get more shrink out of the denim as well.
But I also agree, once you start wearing them and they mold to you, they have a tendency to take shape in just the right ways.
-
Good advice thanks guys
-
Hard to really see in the photo, and the rest of the fit is spot on for my tastes, but the knees and below and a little elephant-y haha. Love em. I’ll see how they shake out over the next few weeks and shorten a little if needed.
-
@drewfonse looking good, you may find when you shorten these or give them another roll that little bit of excess around the knee will drop out. If you haven't already make sure to wash/soak these bad boys before getting them hemmed/shortened as you will loose approximately 1 inch in the length which you might find is all you want especially if you going to have a small roll or two
-
Thanks, yeah, I did a scalding hour long soak. I think taking off just under an inch will be perfect. I have a pair of the 14 SBR which are a little long too, so I’ll send them off to Williamsburg garment and that’ll be that.
On topic, amazing denim!
-
@Aetas - cool. Worn in and ready to go
-
you will get more shrinkage with agitation than just soaking..
-
I can’t believe how much more comfortable this is than the UHR. I sent the XHS for additional hemming and wore a new UHR for a few days. Put the XHS on right after getting them back and wow. Hyper comfy in comparison. Gonna be hard to reach for anything g but else but these on 75 degree and cooler days. Amazing.

@drewfonse the best!!!
-
Yo these jeans are awesome. Hopefully they keep their shape, because wow.
Will try to post a pic of my cooler than normal weather combo from today, multi brand Canadian tuxedo. Sure to have bad lighting and dirty mirror involved.
Wait for it….

Oni secret denim jacket, IH 888 XHS. Perfect weather for em. Terrible photo haha. Both awesome.
-
@drewfonse Looking good!! In my experience the shape only gets better with wear. They start to conform to your body and become very comfortable.
I really love the 888 cut with the higher rise in the back. They just stay where they should. While wearing them daily I don't notice it but when I have to change to another pair while the 888s are in the wash it really bothers me that i have to pull them up constantly. I never realised that before having my fist 888
Here's a picture of mine with about 3 months of continous wear:
-
@maxximum 888 is a godsend for those who don’t like their buns to fall out) I’ve always loved the high waist.
-
They look great! How many washes, roughly?
I agree about the 888 cut and the back rise. Whenever I wear anything else, it feels weird. All my jeans are 888 now.
-
@drewfonse
Thank you! I did a initial wash and had to wash them about once a month. I have 2 kids (age 2 and 4) so incidents happen regularly
I wear them daily since 3 months now.
I'm also very happy with the progress. I'm a little concerned about the inner side of my cuffs though. I already rubbed through the seam on both sides. -
@maxximum This is the highest wear spot on nearly all of my jeans. I get the same thing on every pair, especially when cuffed. You'd think my ankles click together with each step I take. When stacked, it doesn't wear thru as fast, but it does show wear first. Luckily its easy to stitch fix that spot with some heavy poly cotton thread.

Yeah these things are tough as nails but pretty damn comfortable from the get go. I ride my bike to work, and this is work wear, so I’m getting lots of deep creases, behind the knees especially, right away.
