I am pretty pumped about this Canadian flag I received so I thought I would share here. I signed up to receive a flag that flew over our parliament buildings in Ottawa, Canada. This one flew on the Peace Tower. They change the flag every day and give the flag to someone in the country. I signed up about 20 years ago and got the flag this past week. The wait is now over 100 years if you sign up today. It’s giant and I have no idea what I’ll do with it, but it’s a pretty cool story.

Thanks @Giles !

@deanclean That is really a BIG flag. Been to Ottawa once, the flag looks a lot smaller when viewed from the ground! Wouldn't know what to do with it either... Here in Germany, we are a bit hesitant to fly our flags like everyone else.

I understand your predicament @tody I feel strange flying a flag too. I don’t know why.

studying for my SRC. Dayskipper theory starts Saturday. Exciting times
And out at sea, practising what we learnt....
One of the things that we did not learn, but I put into practice today, is what to do when you are 15 miles offshore and you're knees interfere with the engine ignition switches and both engines "fail".....

I was playing around in the lake one day and shut the boat off so that we could swim around for a bit. After we had finished, I went to turn the boat back on and nothing happened. Full power, accessories were working, but the motor would not restart. I set in the middle of the lake trying to figure out why it wouldn't restart and accidentally hit the throttle with my knee which made the lever click into the neutral position. Turned the key again and everything fired back up...
The boat nor I have not had that issue since.

@Tago-Mago I have no clue what that sentence means so it must be exciting. Good luck!

Clearly it’s boating related after reading more posts.

After being told I was going to move my classroom to the new wing that was built at my school this year, I was told that I was actually staying in my "old" room. Well, today that changed and I will be moving to a brand new classroom next year. I am super excited as I did not know this this morning. I am currently across from the boy's bathroom and I fecking hate the daily nonsense that goes on in between classes. The new wing is more isolated and only 6th graders occupying it. I am teaching only 6th grade next year too which is new to me, I usually teach two grades each year. That means less prep work. So stoked as I am finishing my tenth year here and will start my second decade as an educator in a brand new environment.

@mclaincausey @deanclean Giles is correct. Day Skipper is the lowest certificate by the Royal Yachting Association that allows you to charter a yacht and sail it in coastal waters in daytime. If you want to operate VHF equipment, you will also need to pass the SRC - Short Range Certificate

Very cool. Sounds like a great adventure.
