@goosehd Bands played live on Ed Sullivan but not on American Bandstand. There was a whole big todo about Ed Sullivan asking/telling Morrison not to sing “Girl we couldn’t get much higher” Morrison assured him he wouldn’t and then did it anyway,which prompted the famous exchange where he was told you’ll never do the Ed Sullivan show again,to which he responded…I just did the Ed Sullivan show.

@Jett129 I’ve been going down the rabbit hole since you mentioned that…it seems like tv recording equipment couldn’t handle heavily amped performances and many of the so called live shows on tv were all prerecorded or sung to backing tracks.

I honestly didn’t know that lip syncing had been a thing for so long and learned something tonight.

@goosehd This was performed live and if you listen closely at about 3:58 in you can hear them sing Up Against the Wall Mother Fuckers. Can’t believe they didn’t get in trouble for this.
