2013 Autumn/Winter Pipeline

Perhaps the jacket is expensive but I hardly feel that ANY of us can ever say something is overpriced because not a single person I have ever saw making this proclamation has ever had the total overhead figures available to understand how a product must be priced in order for the manufacturer AND retailer to still come out on top and not be in the red. Sorry nerk its not a statement just directed at what you just posted but in the last few month I've seen the word overpriced thrown around in a rather haphazard manner that bothers me. It may be because for the last 12 years I've supported myself by my art (not the computer variety but art thats still done in the old fashioned done-by-hand style) and understand just how much work is put into things that people seldom realize. Just an observation.

It's not unusual for a retailer to have a 50% gross margin. IH, SE, and their suppliers all have make money on the deal. That's just business; I can't tell if they are making "unfair" margins or not, but again, 50% is not considered unusual and it's their right to charge what they think their product is worth, and our right to walk away if that's too high. To know if you were being gouged (I define that as a retailer gross margin over 50%) you'd have to have full view of the value network supplying the product, or at least knowledge of the cost of goods sold to the retailer. Or the price could just be so totally out of whack that you could safely assume a gouge.
So to me the final jacket is too expensive, but not necessarily overpriced.

Want one yet?

Yep

Sorry, as much as I love the stormrider - i dislike the corduroy collar. I just feels it disrupts the clean optic. Never was a fan of those collars.

Good point. A mate of mine is a tattooist as well, and sometimes he gets people bitching about it costing $X per hour. What they don't realise is that he spends his evenings and weekends practicing, creating new designs, refining techniques, etc. He doesn't get paid a cent for that time.
Same with clothes - I can only imagine all the 'behind the scenes' stuff that gets into making a pair of jeans, jacket, or whatever. Considering all this, as discussed various times before, IH doesn't have a particularly large profit margin on most items.
-
It's simple economics: nobody forces you to buy in case you rate the subjective value of an item lower than it's retail price. And regarding tattoos: I wonder how often people think: "Hey, it looks kinda shitty, but at least I saved me 50 bucks."

Looking forward to this 101J - love the front yoke on Lee riders, I've found it very flattering. Stormrider/lined would be amazing.
Can I mention the 'P' word?…. -
This jacket will stay effectively as is. IF it sells well, then I may consider doing a Storm Rider. It really depends upon the take up from retailers, jackets sell super slow compared to jeans and shirts. Making them more specialist (lined for eg) and thus more expensive throttles back demand further. Would I buy a IH Storm Rider if it was issued? hell yeah, but that does not mean enough others will.

very nice, will keep a look out as i don't have enough denim outerwear

The original had plastic cinch buttons. They had a rationale for that, but I can't recall what it was.
This is one reason I love iron heart, not a slavish repro. I like these type III style metal cinch buttons. Though, what I would like even more would be branded copper buttons like I've seen on a couple of IH items. This piece would resemble the original (I.e, be more "repro" and contradicting the point I made above, but still being rad) more:
