Hard to beat good bread and butter. Homemade is even better.

Weirdly, for a country with such an international reputation for crap food, England is very good at making great bread. Whenever I travel I find myself missing the bread from home, Spanish bread is particularly crap in my experience.

i make my own bread with any variety from half/half with nuts or chopped dates or olives ,but sometimes only white will do

One of the things I've missed the most during my time in Mexico is good bread! Nothing but pan Bimbo and super-refined white sugary pastries everywhere. I'm not sure if it's the altitude, the yeasts, or the quality of ingredients, but even the "artisanal" bread and my own attempts to bake at home have been comparatively crappy. sigh One month from now I'm going to eat a whole loaf of seeded whole grain sourdough from the bakery near my folks' house….with lots of butter....it will be heavenly.

@Seul with good bread you must get something real between your teeth
Today you can get in UK excellent food and also some bakers and butchers from (East)Germany went to Britain to open their shops thereNo idea where they are then, because real Butchers and Bakers are like rocking horse shit in Britain these days…...In my town (and for miles around) every real butcher and baker has closed and the poor sods who used to work in them, now find gainful employment in the "butchery" and "bakery" sections on the local large supermarkets...
