IH-555S-21 - 21oz Selvedge Denim Super Slim Jeans - Indigo PREVIOUSLY IH-555-01
-
Never tried the 18oz so can't comment on that. What I do know is that the 21oz is unbelievably comfortable. So much so that I honestly find it difficult to wear anything else now.
In terms of warmth, I live in the french alps (Grenoble, same latitude as New York I think) and they are perfect in winter. I couldn't wear any denim here in the summer though…way too hot for that. They do breath better than other pairs of 14oz i've had though.
For a first experience, you really can't go wrong with the 21oz. -
I second what neph93 and bertoni said. The 21 oz is a great option to jump on the IH-bandwagon. Check your measurements and keep in mind that it can stretch pretty easily. The comfort and appearance of the 21 oz denim are simply amazing. It's in its own league. After you experienced your first IH I'd also recommend the raw 18 oz (maybe in a different cut?) because it has so much character and is simply superb as well. And Welcome :)!

Hey guys, Im trying to decide between the IH-555-01 and 1H-555-02.
(input from anyone that owns both would be awesome)
What ive gathered from browsing is the 18oz (02) is harder to break in, stretches less, keeps you warmer
and that the 01 surprisingly breathes better from how the fabric is woven and stretches more. correct me if i'm wrong. So far im leaning towards the 01.My last pair of denim was 14oz im concerned that the transition from 14 to 21oz will be too much.
I live in upstate NY so it can get cold, will these keep me as warm as the 18oz? Will they be bearable in NY summers? Also haven't seen any cool fade pics from theses anywhere
Saw a few impressive fades with the 18oz and lots from the 666s…..
I went from 14oz to 21oz, like the others have said the 21oz from IH is really breathable and comfortable.
Through winter they are good, I tried to wear mine through summer but gave up for a few weeks (I live in Brooklyn, NY)Hope this helps, you won't regret getting them.

Some love for my 555's. I've had them a little over a year, worn them for about half that. Washed them two or three times. Love the stealth arcs.
Do either of you have an instagram or somewhere where i can see more pics of your jeans
I went through this entire thread already

hmmm received a strange message from iron heart today saying that the size 29 i purchased is not a 29.5 in the waist but a 30 now….has anyone dealt with something similar from them? why would the measurements be incorrect? that's very strange. i don't understand why the sizes would vary? unless they have been worn by someone else stretched out and returned? or lack of QC? this is very concerning as i have never dropped $300 on jeans and returns to the uk is ridiculous. My waist is a 32 and i heard these stretch a bit so hopefully ill be fine.
-
This is not strange at all. The way the jeans are made means you may get small variations from published measurements. Also different runs may end up with slightly different stats. That email was probably a courtesy just to let you know. Either way I recommend taking any concerns up with Giles or Paula. Their customer care and QC is 2nd to none.
You should get two inches of stretch from the waist but it may hurt a little at first. Good luck, these are amazing jeans.

Because they are made by humans and not robots and there is variance in the individual sewers physical movements. Even if they were sewn by robots, there is often difference in tension in a single bolt of fabric. The shuttle looms that weave our denim are often over 60 years old and are nursed by amazing engineers, but they are not CNC produced pieces of modern equipment. If you want a clinical piece of clothing produced in a modern factory with no soul, then we're not the place to be dropping USD300. The only reason you know there is a difference between actual and published is because we go out of our way to ensure you pick and we ship the best possible size for you as an individual. You pop down to your local jeans store and measure a few jeans, you will find amazing variance.
If your waist is actually 32, tag size 29 is not the size you should be buying.

whoops I'm a waist size 31 if that makes a difference just remeasured. another fellow in the thread is the same size as me in apcs and purchased a 29 in the 01 the fit looked really good. all the other measurements are perfect too. I think the 29 would be fine. if it stretches up to 2 inches.

Check the thigh measurement. If you need any more than about 0.5" there (and that will be a struggle), don't size down 2.

Sabergirl knows. Thigh is the critical measurement. You'll get what you need in the waist.

the thighs is exactly why I'm retiring my old denim. they were 10in in the thigh and were slightly uncomfortable. I believe the 01s are 10.6…unless that varies also. I would like to have a skinny fit so I don't want them to be too big. will the extra .6 make a difference in comfort? my old pair was wearable wore them everyday just wish I had a bit more room. how much do thighs in 01s usually stretch?

Minimal variations in the thigh. From experience, my measurements have been the same as IH. An extra .6 of an inch will be a noticeable difference, you may get about .5 more max. Probably less.

Oh, and by the way, we know that shipping back to UK is expensive, so:
- That is why we try and engage you in a dialogue to ensure we send you the right size because:
- It costs us to send it out to you in the first place, we'd really rather not have to piss away that cost by shipping again
- We offer: http://www.ironheart.co.uk/returns-shipping

Hello guys,
I need some help. I vomit over my IH 555 in new years eve night. I just wore them straight for two month. I washed it out by putting it in cold water in the tube. I Hope i can get rid of the smell with febreze. Do you have some suggestions? I dont wanna ruin my project.
Sorry for my english, i am from Germany… Its my first Post here, was only reading before. Thanks dudes.

^epic first post.
Just wash the jeans inside out in cold water, or put them in a bath tub with a bit of gentle detergent and "agitate" them a bit. The 21oz denim is already treated so you won't be doing anything bad to them.
