IH-555-03 - 21oz Selvedge Denim Super Slim Jeans - Superblack (Fades To Grey)
-
Anyone have luck sizing down on these from their 666XHS size? I wear a 36 in XHS (smallest I can get over my thighs, although the waist is no issue) and the 34 in the 555-03 have the same thigh measure and the waist I want pre stretch… thinking I might be able to handle the smaller knee with stretch, as long as (and Sam agrees) I can get them over my knees lol Don't have anything as slim to compare against in my closet, so it's a guessing game right now.
anyone need to talk me out of this idea? lol

I don't have a pair of these but I recently bought a pair of 3sixteen's with a much smaller knee than I am used too. While I really like the slim profile, I still find myself sagging them a little to allow a bit of extra room in the knee area.
What I am trying to get at is you might find yourself wearing them a little differently than your usual kinda jeans. -
Thanks for the info Spitfire! I'm thinking if I get them, I'll

Just bought a pair of these based on the same reasoning as yours (my XHS are W35 I bought the W34 in 555's). The taper from thigh to knee is brutal. I've only worn mine for an evening out, so no stretch yet but these will always be snug on me and I expect record fast crotch blowout. Despite all this I kinda love 'em.

That helps to decide my fate lol i could not even think about fitting into a 35 in the XHS

@neph93 - i had @PattyCakez & @Sam find me the smallest size 36. Thigh is fine, waist is good and I can pull them all the way up (for the most part). I can't believe how rigid the SBG denim is. I was kind of expecting it to be like the 21oz flagship, but it feels much more like the standard superblack, if not more rigid to me.
Overall the top block is very snug on me, which I knew would be the case due to my large "glutes" lol I'm not sure what I was thinking believing I could sneak into a 34 in these.. I wouldn't have gotten them over my knees lol I think getting the smallest waist will keep the top block rather slim even after some stretch.

Having lost some weight and with these showing as having bigger measurements than the 555-01 I picked up the W34. The 36 would have been to big in the waist and topblock. The result is predictably tight thighs. Not sausage leg tight but tight enough that I'm risking crotch rip after 2 months. It's not great, but nor is it a deal breaker.
With regards to the SBG, it's the sulphur dying that makes them rigid. I have the BB's in the same fabric (extinct now) and they have about 100 days wear on them without a wash. They're worn in and soft like the indigo 21oz. They have also stretched out in the same way so fingers crossed my 555-03 do the same.
I love the 555 cut for the high rise and taper. It looks good on big guys and like madmonday said once, we need well fitted jeans too. My problem is the taper from thigh to knee. My glutes stretch the 21oz just fine but my quads, mid thigh and over the knee are biiiig so it's a fit that is always going to be snug on me. But I'll keep persevering [emoji1434][emoji38]

That is the best fit pic i've seen you post mate. Perfect everything. If comfort can find it's way into the equation you're set
Thanks dude - it's been a whirlwind of sizing issues over the last two years with weight gain and loss but I feel I've finally got my handle on sizing stuff right.
Cheers, Adam

@neph93 - thanks for the input on the fabric feel - it's definitely a new material for me and Im sure I will enjoy it.

Appfaff they look great on you. I have been wanting this denim for ages but I don't think the measurements will ever work for me in this cut.
