@madmonday they are the absolute bee's knees, mate. Beautiful. (Good to see you're still around these parts now and again too).
-
thanks for the kind word.
& that's the thing with addictions, hahahahahahahaha
-
@madmonday I was just thinking the other day about these and wondered if you were still rocking them or not. Glad to see you have kept on with the destruction! They are looking great.

Feels good to be back in some IH 18oz.

Heyyy I was just wondering if these were gonna be restocked in size 32 anytime? I'm really not in any position to buy any more denim at present, but I'm thinking a pair of stf 555s might be in my future…
Cheers!

If the product allows you to ask for restock notifications, it will be restocked. If you do this you will get a notification….

IH-555-02 owners,
After the soak, did you experience much stretch in the thigh and knees? My 555-02s have not been soak yet, and they fit perfectly in the waist, rear, and cuff. However, they're a little too tight in the lower thighs and knees. Am I hopeless?
-
They'll stretch. May be wear for a couple of weeks and then warm soak….
Is it heretical to not give an unsanforized pair of jeans a soak? Is this an option?
-
It's not heretical. The downside is you have an increased risk of a thread popping and increased abrasion, but if it's only a couple of weeks that won't be an issue. Also you have to accept they'll need to meet water at some point and will then shrink some (unless your name is Ruedi and you are Swiss).
-
Also the 18 oz denim is pretty stubborn and you'll probably want it to soften up a bit through soaking / washing.
-
Hmm. Thanks for your responses, friends.
I've read in this thread that the knees and the thighs will probably shrink around 0.5''.
The knees and the thighs are already a little too tight for me now, and if anything, they need to stretch 0.5''.
So, in other words, I should probably sell these, right? Or should I try to make them work?

The upper thigh works? They are going to stretch some. If I was you I'd give them a soak or a wash and wear them for a week to see how they develop. It may work out.
Have you removed tags? If so you can't sell as new and the selling price won't be affected much by a soak and a few days wear.

Yeah, I have removed the tags.
Maybe you're right. Maybe I should soak and wear a few days.
Any tips on soaking? I've heard old wive's tales of squatting and stretching in them while damp afterwards to try to create some room in knees and thighs. Any truth to this?

Well, if anybody is looking to buy a pair of size 28– worn once, not soaked-- shoot me a message!

I'd wash them like you, personally generally wash jeans. That way you know they won't shrink more. Squatting and stretching gets you the stretch you'd get anyway, just a bit quicker. I can't speak to the difference wetness may make. There'll be a certain amount of stretch in the cotton, no more, no less. Good luck whatever you choose.
