IHSH-130-PB - Purple/Black Ombre Ultra Heavy Western Shirt

@rmc:
Just got the 130 as my first IH shirt ever. Had a question…do you find that the inside of the shirt (brushed cotton side) pills really easily?
I wore it lightly only for a couple hours and when I took it off, noticed pretty severe pilling for a first time wear. Is this normal or did I get a defective shirt?...kinda disappointed at how easily it pills
With flannels and other napped fabric I get pilling in the areas where the shirt rubs my denim and belt almost immediately, and like @Dstauffer said, the back of the neck and shoulders over time.
This is pretty common with napped fabric in my experience and doesn't affect the overall quality of the shirt.

Thanks all for the reply…but yes exactly...I noticed the pilling in the belt/waist area. Glad to know these should not affect the durability of the shirt!

@adam313 where do you live btw? The scenery is always nice in your pics.

Much appreciation @manufc10 . I'm usually somewhere between Santa Fe and Steamboat Springs. These last pics in the 130 purps were on top of Sapphire Point in Dillon, Colorado.

I really need to wash mine and the grey….won't be wearing them for a while and have yet to....ha.
LOVE this shirt!

@Niro that's a great score. It's one of my favorite shirts and draws it's fair shares of compliments.

Yeah, one of my favorites as well. And the purple is so different from the buffalo check that it's valid to own both

Despite my attempt at trying to save money I broke down and picked this up at SE. I ended up going with an xl because they were sold out of large, so the plan is to hot wash the shit out of this thing to see if I can get some shrink out of it. The only other time I've sized up to xl was with the GRN 206, but those sewed up on the smaller side. Also, I wasn't really big on purple when these came out because I live in Minnesota and that color is associated with the Vikings. But, I don't have this color in my wardrobe and figured i'd give it a try.
For those of you with experience, when you guys hot wash UHF's do you also throw it in the dryer for maximum shrinkage or do you hang dry after the hot wash? I won't know just how big this shirt will be on me until I get it next week. The plan is to hot wash with some woolite dark, but i'm concerned there will be color fading if I chuck it in the dryer. Should I skip the dryer and just go with a hang dry? I'd mostly want to get some shrink out of the sleeves as the xl measurements are really long.

@gaseousclay take it slowly, one step at a time. You don't want to ruin your shirt. A 60C/800rpm wash and air dry will get you shrinkage. Do that first, see if it's enough. If it isn't, increase the heat and spin incrementally until it fits.
A run through the tumble dryer will certainly give you a lot of shrinkage, but that exposure to dry heat over time isn't great for the fabric of the shirt, I'd avoid it .
Fading is going to happen. Agitation and heat are needed for shrinkage, they are also what cause fabrics to fade. Sorry.

Thanks. I’ll hot wash and hang dry first and see if that works. Guess I’ll wait till I get it first to see just how big it is. It was an impulse purchase so kinda paranoid it’ll fit like a tent on me. The length looks fine — it’s the sleeves and chest I’m worried about.

You'll get more shrinkage in the arms and body (length) than in the chest, shoulders and waist. This is a function of proportions.
It's a great shirt and @Jett129 has a very good point: Worst case, layer the bugger.

Good points. If it doesn’t shrink much I could wear it as a shacket. Or sell it [emoji3]

An odd observation, when I viewed this shirt on my desktop it was showing 0 stock in size large. But on my cell it’s showing they have large in stock. Does this show up for you guys? Wondering if it’s a cache thing with my cell
