I've spent two years asking 1,000 questions about leather jackets, but here is one I have never asked…
How "warm" is this one? the weather around me is very weird. It never gets super cold, but high humidity makes even moderate temperatures seem frigid. Example - I can be wearing a 6.5oz Tee + UHF + UHR and boots in 55F degree weather and shivering because of the damp air. However, the Whipcord N1 felt like a sauna even at 30 degrees.
Is this leather something that will keep out the wind + retain heat, all without making me boil with a flannel on?
Sorry to ask a dumb question, but this thread did need some reviving lol

Thanks Giles - that what I was expecting, but having never owned anything leather (other than boots), I didn’t know the real answer

I wear mine from fall through late spring and I have never had an issue with keeping warm…I'm in Michigan and we can definitely get some cold, snowy/wet weather up here.
I realize some prefer with just a tshirt, but I like mine with a UHF under and or a hoodie.
In the winter, I do sometimes throw a thick vest over top and that gives me some extra warmth if needed during the coldest months.

Sweet! Thanks guys!

Can anyone ( @Giles ? ) speak to how the horsehide on this and the IHJ-35 compares to the horsehide used on the arms of the IHW-11. I don't know enough about leather in general or horsehide in particular to envisage how this jacket looks and feels in the flesh (so to speak) and need some reference points… (asking for a friend ::) )

The main difference for me is the suppleness of the leather on the varsity. They feel about the same thickness (which they probably are) and all three of the leathers have a nice healthy shine to them but the horsehide on the IHJ-35 and the 54 have that "never been worn" stiffness. Whereas the varsity leather has a worn-in feel whilst still looking brand new.
Hope that makes sense… @neph93

These BETTER get sold out today thanks to the Advent sale - Less than $1,400 for this bad boy is one hell of a deal. Sadly/Luckily my size is gone, otherwise I’d be helping to eliminate stock, myself!

Anyone that met @formulapfaff and I at the Austin meet up will know how close we are. We share a lot of the interests, yet have very different styles.
I recently had a birthday, and I was lucky enough to have him surprise me for a weekend filled with great food, tasty beer, and family, and I was blown away by the thought and generosity it took for him to come visit me for my special weekend the week before his last finals of his collegiate career.
While I didn’t think the weekend could be topped, Greg outdid himself again, and bought me the IHJ-54 as a Christmas gift. I am blown away by his generosity, and humbled by the act.
I’m beyond lucky to finally have my dream jacket.
Thank you Gregory,
