“58” and “freezing” just don’t jive man… they ain’t related.

lol for most normal people, no. I'm a phoenix native man, I'm used to temperatures that are literally two times 58 degrees.
-
well…I shouldn't say "used to"...more like I can tolerate.
-
I actually sympathize- a cold front is moving through central Texas right now. Yesterday, the high was 84, today it's 62, tomorrow it will be 45. I like cooler weather, but that's a hell of a quick drop.
-
It's cloudy!
WILL THIS HELL EVER END?!

Naaaawwww…. poor babies. Make sure you put a thinnish jacket on when you go outside. And don’t forget the sunscreen.

lol…I actually use sunscreen almost year round here. Well a face lotion with an SPF in the winters mainly but definitely sunscreen the rest of the year.
It's funny cause during the winters here you can always tell the people who are transplants and those that are natives. Natives will be bundled up when it's in the 50's and the transplants will still be in shorts and a T shirt.

I feel your pain. I grew up in the north east but I don’t enjoy it. Iron heart clothes help a lot.

With a few minor changes, this is accurate for me, too.

Thanks!
Well, I soaked it once in warm water before wearing it. It could shrink more, but I don't want it to. Or is there any other shrinkage I need to account for?
As long as you do the same in the future as you did the first time there won’t be more shrinkage. But if the water temperature is higher and/or there is more agitation in the wash, then you may get more shrinkage.

Received my pair today and holy mother of God are these things stiff! I've had some rigid denim before but god damn these take the cake without a doubt. Been in a cold soak in my tub for three hours, about to pull them out and run them through a machine cycle (no spin of course).
I'll post pre and post measurements when all is said and done.

Tag size 34
Pre soak
-waist: 34.5"
-front rise: 12"
-back rise: 16 1/8"
-thigh: just under 13.5"
-knee: 9 1/8"
-hem: 8.25"
-inseam: 37"Post Soak
-waist: 33.5"
-front rise: 11.75"
-back rise: 15.75"
-thigh: 12.75"
-knee: just under 9"
-hem: 8"
-inseam: just under 35"3 hour cold soak followed by a warm wash cycle in the machine. I was sidetracked while they were in the machine and I let the spin cycle start while they were still in. Luckily I caught it fairly quickly and they weren't on spin for long but exactly how long I cant say I did get some light lines in them as you can see in the pic below. There is also a light one on the back side not pictured. Nothing that's going to bother me much at all and they aren't very noticeable except in direct sunlight. Plus I think with time the fading of the jean will minimize those lines. Not sure if they are a result of that short time in the spin cycle or not.
Overall I love these things. Crazy stiff fabric that actually gives and starts to loosen up a bit quicker than I anticipated. Buttoning them up wasn't terribly difficult compared to some other heavier denims I have tried from other brands. The most difficult and comical part was trying to turn them inside out and then right side out again when they were wet. I stopped several times and laughed at myself as I struggled to do this, looking at my blue hands thinking jesus this is what my love for denim has come to.
The fit is great, spot on IMO with the thighs being on the tighter side but not necessarily a bad thing. Actually the post soak measurements are nearly identical to my 888s with the exception of the the thighs and hem coming out smaller on this pair (UHR's). I am definitely considering grabbing a second pair in the future considering this is the final run of this fabric. I'm only on day one of wearing these but so far I think they will be great for the winter in AZ and I think I will get more wear out of them in a warmer climate than I anticipated, which is a good thing. That was my main concern with these. With that being said they are definitely a warm pair of jeans.
Here's a pic of the white lines as mentioned above. No big deal to me and hopefully they will fade out a bit over time.

I am loving this cut and this fabric. For as stiff and abrasive as it is I am surprised at how quickly they become comfortable to wear. They are still super crisp at the same time though.

Heya gents, I was thinking of giving these a try but have never ordered raw, let alone UHR denim before. What's the soaking guide on these? Should I wear it for some time before soaking? Do I soak it just as soon as I try it on to ensure it fits? Anything else I might not know about going in?
Thx!

Hi there.
You should soak to embed the stitching, and wash to remove the shrinkage when you first get them. Of course it’s wise to try them on first as if they are way off then you have sized wrong. Here’s the link to IHUK’s own guide. You’ll find the info on UHR in the middle. Follow the instructions and you’ll be golden. https://www.ironheart.co.uk/content/product-care-guidelines
Otherwise there’s lots of useful tips, information and experience on this thread and the 888-NT thread here: https://www.ironheart.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=10378.0
Also, the IHUK crew will take really good care of you when you place your order.
Good luck.

Thanks Neph!
I haven't finished reading the 888-NT thread, so forgive me if the questions below were answered there. I'm still working on it
I noticed in the IHUK instructions these lines:
Our UHR jeans are designed to be "shrink to fit", so after washing or soaking a couple of times they will shrink to tag size
and
When you get your jeans, soak them in a bathtub or large sink of cold water for a few hours. Then turn them inside-out and wash them in a washing machine* at no hotter than 30 degrees C (circa 90 degrees F)
So if I follow those instructions, cold soak, then hot wash, should I perform an additional hot soak or hot wash? Are those instructions the bare minimum and additional hot soaks optional? And, assuming people do perform additional hot soaks, should it be a soak or does it need to be a wash like in the initial instructions?
Thanks again!
