Photograph and Camera talk
-
Glad i found this thread. I just began exploring the boards outside the IH products LOL. I do alot of photography but for the last few years, i am merely concentrating on something a lil more challenging.. dogs! Aka American Bullies. It's great to capture them posing like they can follow my directions.

wow. don't suppose Robert was carrying a camera?
no, im surprised he can still walk. it was just really funny that sid kaplin came in the same time he did. my dumb co worker tried to take a photo of the two of them together but my boss told him "if you take that photo your fired fat man".

elclintor: how you finding the 17-85mm? i've been keen to get one of those as my everyday but dont think it's quite wide enough but the 15-85mm is quite a step up in price.
Might not be practical as an everyday lens but consider a 10-22 if you are on a 1.6x and want a wide lens.
I have sacrificed flexibility myself. I pretty much use prime lenses on a full frame body. 35, 85, and 135mm works for me.

For me it's perfect for everyday use. I was debating between the 15-85mm and this one.. Snagged it off eBay for $230.
That made the decision a whole lot easier.
I'm looking for a 50mm 1.4 right now, and would already have one if it weren't for IH.

When i say "everyday" i mean "walk around" situation.
18 is not quite wide enough and 55 is not enough zoom for me so 10-22 is a no go.

I doubt it… I haven't seen any Leica discussions here. But there's plenty of respected Leica folks around. Where are you in the world Guillaume, and what kind of Leica are you shooting that needs work?
Edit: a click of your username suggests you're around NYC... Sherry Krauter of Golden Touch is probably gonna be the one you want then. There are folks in the city of course, but Sherry is one of the most highly respected repairpersons in the country. If you're shooting a screwmount or an M that doesn't take any batteries, Youxin Ye is in Boston and well respected, cheaper and faster than Sherry but technically I don't think he's an authorized repairman.

thanks, ill look into golden touch, never heard of it before though. the only real place i know of around my area is nippon and they are a bunch of rip offs. cost me a close to a new pair of iron heart jeans last time to get my last camera fixed. but now i seem to have a problem with my m6. the lightmeter does not seem to work. usually i would not care but it is my night time camera for a project that im doing and the environment im in doesnt really give me a good sense of light if that makes any sense

i love that. going to try and work that line in somewhere next time. "that sh#t cost me as much as a pair of IH"
