Oooh, those look nice. I have a weakness for beanies, especially soft natural fiber ones. Itchy synthetic fibers, like acrylic, are of the devil.
Where to cop?

yeah, I want an alpaca blanket too but that'll have to wait. I'm technically set for winter hats but my son's beanie is pretty nice and fits him like a glove. There's a softness to it that feels different than my wool beanie from Howlin' by Morrison.

Pencils & associated tools, large acid-free sketchbook, and technical pens purchased Sunday. Spending some time off the grid and I figured reading and seeing if I can remember how to draw would be fun indoor pursuits, with backcountry exploration dominating our outdoor pursuits.
May need to buy another copy of "Drawing On the Right Side of the Brain."
First project is to capture Otis well enough that I could frame a sketch. Then I can do one of his sister when she arrives. I'd like to be able to do these in ink but need a lot of practice. I would love to be able to pull off a sumi-e brushed ink portrait but I'm even rustier on that medium. It feels good to draw again. I never had the discipline to get very good at it, but I should be able to get good enough to have fun as a personal hobby.

^^ Same here. I'm a bad test case, though, since I'm not at all hard on socks. These will probably last me for years, even if they're only mediocre.
That said, my wife has decreed that the new house will include a strict "no shoes" rule, like we're Norwegians or something. Maybe this will lead to more wear and tear than I usually inflict.

I have the entire run of that show, and both movies, on dvd.
I too, would probably end up getting bullied by eight year olds…

I know you're a fan. Can't remember if I used my whisky voice to express this at kanreki, but the guys that wrote it are my age and so very obviously had the same experience of those particularly grim years, and the British state school system, as I did.

After the cold spell we went through I decided to invest in this portable jump n carry. It took 5 hrs for roadside assistance to help me with my car which was frustrating. I realize that they were backed up but had I been stranded in the middle of nowhere I would’ve been screwed. I probably went overboard on this thing but I wanted the best I could find.

Great investment and I have one of those as well as a power inverter that can run on 12V cigarette lighter from the car or a 12V lead acid battery. So the battery and starter can charge in the car if they need to, and I can also charge or plug in any 120V AC item I want.
What I'd really like to get someday would be a Goal Zero lithium portable power station and solar array but that's an order of magnitude more expensive at the moment. 1000 Wh capacity runs you about $1/Wh.
I bet that puffer came in handy as a layer for the vortex?
