PIH5DCT - 25oz Indigo/Indigo Selvedge Denim Tapered Cut
-
So I just picked up a pair from @alexswords (thanks!) and I gotta admit, I was nervous. My standard thigh size (what my IH pants have stretched to with use) is 12.5" and Alex got these down to 12" after soak. Oh boy!
Well, they arrived yesterday and they felt and looked amazing. Lots of wear left on them, just little bits of poppy blue here and there. I got them on, success! The tightness of the thigh is keeping me from bringing the waist as high as I'd like, making them feel almost like a mid-to-low rise, but I'm pretty confident I can stretch these guys out. About 20 minutes after putting them on I started losing circulation in my right foot LOL. No, it's not that bad, but it does feel a little tingly. I'm going to break these in yet!
Today, I was able to cross my legs! Progress!
As I was telling Alex, it's been so long since I've sized down and felt the tight bearhug of denim that doesn't want to give. It's a great feeling!

@Paul9221 glad you're getting them to give in!! keep wearing them and they'll reward you handsomely

Careful washing them, Paul. I had a pair of 36 that fit super-snug after my initial hot soak, with tight thighs. They stretched out and were great for a few months wear. When I gave them warm machine wash on the delicate cycle, they shrank up and I couldn’t even squeeze my thighs into them any more.

Oh no! I'm surprised that a delicate wash caused so much damage! Just the added agitation, you think? Is there no saving them?
I usually just soak my jeans inside out with detergent in the tub when they need a cleaning but thanks for the warning!

Yeah, it's probably the wash or the dry. That's really unfortunate! Isn't there something that you can insert and leave in the thighs to stretch them out a bit? Something like they have for shoes/boots?
And speaking of weight-gain, I'm also trying to wear these at my fattest point of the year: after the holidays. I read something online that said that by the end of December, you're full of cheese and have no idea what day it is. That was me last year for sure!
Still, I wish I could get these to shrink in the waist about .5 an inch.
-
@sabergirl I have a size 40 I'll give you a deal on of you're interested. I love them but they don't fit me that great. The thighs are too snug and the waist is too big.
-
How much shrink are we talking, more than the supposed 1” in the waist?
-
Not sure if this helps but when I wash my PIH5DCTs I inflate these rubber balls so the ankles do not shrink up. My wife says I am crazy but it has worked for me(!). Then I hang them outside to dry. They have never been in a dryer.
Maybe something like this could work in the thigh for you?
And as far as the waist goes, I feel your pain. I have had to size up because my thighs are big. I send my jeans to Railcar and they take in the waist. They do such a good job that you cannot even tell that they were altered. They do great work, I highly recommend them!Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk

Aren't we all a bit crazy? That's why we're on forums taking about pants, right?
LOL, that ball idea is great. Saber should totally try that!
Funny you mention RCFG, they're about 30 minutes away from me. I've never used them but I've heard nothing but good about them. I was thinking of using them for a hem on these once the thigh stretches out. I should ask them about the waist alteration, too! Thanks for the idea!

Amazing pair. GOAT worthy, along with Nizzles SIIs
Thanks Chubacca. I’ve seen people use GOAT before, but what does it mean? [emoji1743][emoji3603]

Thanks for the offer, @Filthy, but I actually sold on the 36 and bought a 40 for myself, last year. I think a 38 would've been just right. I wear the 40s all the time, and can wash and wear them with reckless abandon, but the waist is way too big.
I have to say, the ball solution, although innovative, is a lot of work for a lazy laundress like myself. In general, I tend to size up so that I can machine wash and tumble dry. Usually works out pretty well.

The struggle is real with denim….

G.O.A.T. = Greatest Of All Time
That’s quite the compliment. Thanks @chubacca!
It’s become an overused cliché. Although possibly not in this case. They are pretty amazing.

Small update on these. Still far away from the evolution of other pairs seen here.
But hey, after only 20 days of wear you can already see where the journey is going. -
Here's a few tasty nugs. Haven't spent too much time in these lately, but I should!
