Looking good @thomas01!

Ramon question for you all. You ever notice white marks caused by buttoning the jacket. I thought it may be from stress but it happened near the collar where there is plenty of room. I suppose the stress of the denim could cause it as well. It’s a beast. Somehow feels heavier than the 21oz denim.
-
OD process must increase ounces per square yard. But just a guess.

That may account for the heaviness. Just curious about the white marks. Not an issue. I like it, actually. Just curious about what causes it.

Maybe tarnish off buttons.

Gotta be the case.

I have the white marks at the buttonholes on both my OD jackets. I believe it is transferred tarnish. It fades in though and the colour of od is already uneven so I care not a bit.
As for weight, OD shrinks fabric so there is an increase in fabric density. It also beats the crap out of the cotton fibers so they will lose some integral strength. This means they are not as good at holding their own weight increasing the heft of the fabric and giving an increases perception of weight.
However fabric weight is tricky. Both the IHSH-62 and -33 are 12oz but the wabash feels heavier. The -21 is 10oz but feels twice as light as the other two. I think it has to do with heft, weave and hand all contributing to the impression of weight. No doubt that LHT is a different fabric to 21oz in the above respects and I don’t think IH have an interest in flubbing fabric weight (unless perhaps in the other direction? [emoji1]).

Fabric weight/perception is definitely tricky. A while ago a few of us thought that the Pronto XHS felt lighter than the IH XHS. I have the IHSH 177 and the IH-555-02,the exact same denim, and the shirt feels as if it’s heavier to me. Not surprising that people have thought that other brands of heavyweight denim have not felt as heavy as similar weighted IH denim.

I love PBJ , PBJ weaving is little loose and that’s why it feels light or not as rugged as IH. PBJ fades differently compare to IH. I love
Both brands !
I have PBJ 18oz jacket and IH -72 18oz , yes the difference is there in weight and feel. -
Worth remembering that the the denim weight expressed in ounces is only a measure of the weight of one square yard of fabric. It doesn’t take into account the mass of the denim used in a pair of jeans, nor the hardware and stitching. Felled seams, buttons, metres of poly cotton all add to the weight. The difference between brands hardware and how fabric they sew into seams may affect the weight of an individual piece, although I’m sure that is negligible.

Great looking jacket. I am new to iron heart, i have been browsing through the forum, lots of great people here. I would like to ask if i may for some advice. I am on the market for a jacket and i am looking st the 526j-22od and the 526lod. I know the first is 22oz and the second 19oz. Any other differences between the 2?
-
19oz is a left hand weave. But other can give you more insight.
Can’t go wrong with either. Or double the fun and get both.

Lol! Thank you. I just checked and the 22oz is out on my size. Now i am tore up between the xxxl and the xxxxl on the 19oz. Both sizes look like they will work.

Depends what you plan on wearing under it. IMHO type III’s look better as fitted as you can go with normal functions. Sizing up makes sleeves and body longer.
But sometimes there’s discrepancies within each size, not by much but if you talk the crew they will steer you right.
And welcome or sorry for this lifelong addiction.
