Also- have any of you noticed a stiffness in the thicker armpit seam area when breaking in? I can pinch the fabric out from my pit and I do have room, its just borderline chafey…am I alone here?
It is a beast of a shirt so this sounds about right. This area sees a lot of movement so it will break in soon enough.
Cool, cool thanks @neph93

I've had mine for a couple years and it's relatively soft now. Never had any noticeable shrinkage with cold washing and line drying @Oaktavia.

Pardon the grumpy photos, but I have been slowly thinking that perhaps this XL is too small for me. I feel that it fits my arms perfectly, and the length, chest and pretty much everywhere seems fine, except the waist/belly. I understand that I have a beer gut with a mostly skinny build.
My question to you all fine folks is should I keep pressing this shirt and hope it continues to break in and eventually will feel less stiff and relax around my waist? Or to buy an XXL if I can find one and have a looser fit. If I can pull this one off I will keep wearing it but when I sit down I can feel the fabric battling with my gut. I also understand that exercise can help with this (as does my girlfriend, though she tells me the shirt looks fine). Any feedback would be helpful.

I'm in a similar situation as you, waist-wise, and I'd size up and then give the XXL a warm-ish wash. I think you could also do with a little extra length there.
-
I think it depends on you. You have your own style and look, and I think that shirt works with it, possibly better than the XXL would?
The length is great imho, and while I can see it stretches a little over the belly, the rest looks good too.
So the question is one of preference. Is it uncomfortable to wear? Do you find yourself not reaching for it because of that? Because if you enjoy it as it is, I say carry on.

I was also worried an XXL might be too large everywhere else besides the belly. I also have some fades forming in the elbow creases that I am already pleased with, which makes me want to keep what I have.
I would not say it is uncomfortable to wear, except after a large dinner and several drinks on the couch. But I feel like most people share the same feeling, like how some people comically unbutton their pants after overeating.
I actually find myself reaching for it more often than my other IHSHs with hopes of a continued break in process.

I say it looks great. I actually wish mine was a little shorter on my torso like yours. I'd say simply unbutton the bottom button when you feel like its stretching in the gut a bit. the XXL will not look near as clean as the XL does on you.

@Jett129 wise words I was seeking to hear
@jordanscollected OK cool I think I am understanding how these shirts should fit a bit better now. I went and put it on an hour ago and it does feel like it works. Thanks for sharing your opinion.

Another piece of advice that you might enjoy is more Bourbon and less beer. Sipping a bourbon instead of knocking back 2-3 beers will put less inches on the proverbial beer belly. I think I know that you’re a fan as well.
I drink all drinks at the same speed, spirits are therefore very dangerous….

I do love a good bourbon. I should go out and get a bottle next time. Woodford Reserve.

Don’t want to get too off topic here, but @Giles On the occasions that I have seen you drink,it’s been beer or wine and you always seem to be imbibing at a sensible pace. Don’t have the impression that you chug or guzzle your drinks. Just out of curiosity are there any spirits that you’re especially fond of? @Oaktavia Been enjoying the Woodford Double Oaked lately.

@Oaktavia - this is my humble 2 cents as well.

and since we veered O/T to Bourbon; Eagle Rare FTW
