christ i want to go fishing so badly

When i was fishing with a buddy in Missouri he introduced me to "Strolling". Trolling isn't allowed in tournaments down there, but you need to let out a ton of line because the fish swim so deep due to extremely clear water, that you can't get down there effectively with casting.
instead of a traditional troll, you open your drag and drive the boat away from your lure for a hundred yards or so, stop the boat, close your bail and reel in.
There you have it… Strolling.

I’ve done that before, but didn’t know that it had a name. Personally, I’m not a fan of trolling and find it extremely boring. However, I’ve caught many salmon using it (deep water) and it has it’s time and place.
I would rather active fish, work an area, and move on if it’s not productive. Fishing is a great exercise in technique, bait selection, and pure dumb luck that when it works the rewards are great. Always learning and most of the time enjoying a great way of being outside.

That's really cool looking because it almost appears translucent. Like the Predator or something.
-
It is a Bonefish. It's nickname is The Ghost of the Flats, specifically because those scales reflect the surroundings. We fly fish for them and it is sight fishing. Part of the challenge of Bonefishing, is to actually see them, so you know where to cast your fly. The problem is that you see them one minute and the next they have completely and utterly melted away…..

That's awesome. Like natural camouflage. Who know what other kinds of crazy species of fish are in the ocean we don't know about yet? There could be stuff we don't know about because we can't go that deep or stuff could be completely undetectable.

Related to what I was talking about above
Also this is pertinent and interesting

@Filthy That reminds me of an article I saw years ago about a Russian deepsea fisherman who had been posting his catches on Twitter. There's some pretty terrifying looking fish out there for sure:

Had my first jab. On the way back home, I had to pass a moat that I have heard holds a good head of Perch, so I stopped for 15 minutes. I'm desperately trying to catch a drop-shotted Perch before the season closes in 6 days.
I failed in my mission, but at least I did not blank, obviously, I was not using a wire leader, but I think this baby had not grown proper teeth yet…

…nice pic Giles! Giving me the fever! Several boats out on the Upper Mississippi today. Still at least a month before ice out up north.
