They need a little help the first time, but after that they get soft and pliable. Reverse pliers work, or regular pliers which you simply open when inserted in the buttonhole.
If you don’t have any handy you can carefully use a heavy pair of scissors by inserting the closed tip of the scissors in the buttonhole and opening the blades so that the outer Edge stretches the hole. Do it one time and you are ready to go.

For now I'm going to leave the fly buttons undone for the next few days. The waist is already a tad tight.
Today marks my first full day of wearing the XHS. Feels like someone is hanging tight on my waist. The pressure is very much noticeable when sitting. Hope this gets better over the next days. My IH 777 D were also like this to start with, but now after a few days of wear they have given up and are the most comfortable.

I regret not having purchased this piece from IH UK. Sometimes it is just a matter of a few centimetres that makes a galactic difference on how comfortable the denim fits you. My sweet spot for the waist is around 81 cm and I made an expensive mistake of not getting it from IH UK. I measured the waist and it is around 78 cm. I hope that the waist gives up a little bit so that it is comfortable enough for me to enjoy this denim.

@Kasi I'm wearing them raw. Afraid of soaking them and loosing some more on the waist. It would then be impossible for me to wear it anymore.

Fwiw my experience was exactly how Neph described — gave em a hot soak and had barely any shrink, no more than 1/2". I get wanting to wear em raw for a bit, though. Maybe just wear em long enough to stretch a half inch then soak. Then they'll stretch back out with wear.

Day 2 of my IH 666 XHS and I cannot say if it still is the right size on the waist for me. I'm attaching a picture that I took in a seated position. The waist button is undone, but at that position it is comfortable, but for me to be able to do the waist button, I had to suck air in so that my stomach contracts and then button it up. Is this normal?
This is why I said in my previous post above is that a few cm's makes a galactic difference in the comfort. As it can be seen that I just need those 2 to 3 cm for my waist to be comfortable. If that is going to be achieved by the stretch, that is to be seen.

Those could be a little tight. I definitely wouldn’t soak them. Mine are snug at first but I’m able to do them all the way up without too much issue. Others may have more input. I never soak my jeans before wearing. I just put em on and wear them till they need a wash.

They are tight just on the waist, while the other areas are good.

I lucked out with mine. Bought them from someone who only worn them a couple of times and had no creases or fades, but the waist was stretched. They were overall a little too loose in the waist and legs. I threw them in the washing machine on my normal cold cycle (with a small load of other dark clothes), and then threw them into the dryer on normal heat with everything else. They fit great now all across the board.
I also didn't want to have to deal with cuffs on cuffs on cuffs, so I cut off 4" from the length and threw the raw edge threw a serger before washing them, so now they have a raw edge that won't fray too much more.

Hope he’s on time to send it back and change the size…

I do not have the choice to send it back. I have worn it for more than a day. I have to now live with it. I will see what options I have to get a 2 cm extension on the waist.
