Something I've mentioned before, but freedom of info requests have really exposed… Marvel and Jack Ryan fans take particular note

Just got back from the new Candyman movie. It was a great movie in its own right, and as a continuation of the original film.

Watching 1959 House on Haunted Hill with Vincent Price, classic and great way to kick off fall!

I feel the reviewer captured mostly how I feel about the Lynch Dune.
Jupp… I’m down with that. And quite funny how his access to the movie mirrors my own. From being wow’ed and confused as a child then experiencing it zonkwd out as a teen. I’ve watched it many times since then and there is so much amazing in it that the silliness barely gets a look in. The grotesque barbarism of the Harkonnens is a case in point.
The new version is a much more subdued affair. Very clean and stylish, very polished and beautiful. More dreamy and romantic, in an Arabian Nights sort of way. Although Baron H is still quite foul of course. Disturbing in a less obvious fashion.

Lovely article, thank you. I agree with much, but this is the money quote: "The score by Toto—synths and strings and horns and guitars cranked to 11—is why God gave us ears." The soundtrack is indeed mind meltingly awesome.
Have I mentioned that Lynch's Paul & Jessica look much better than the actors in Villeneuve's rendition (can't comment yet on the acting). In particular, Jessica is glorious, at least until she shaves (her head!)
I have watched Lynch's piece so many times that I know some passages by heart, starting with Irulan's entire opening scene: "A beginning is a very delicate time. Know then, that this is the year 10194. The known universe is ruled by the Paddisha Emperor Shaddam the IVth, my father…."
Yes, I'm a geek - or at least I was one when Lynch's movie came out. By then (I was 13) I had read the book at least a half dozen times. I've re-read the entire series every few years since then. I still love it the way I love LOTR and not many other things.

Watched this the other night and it was a good fun enjoyable movie.

Grade A brainless fun

Haven't sat down and watched a movie in quite some time. Watched the Last Duel a few nights ago. Very good medieval flick.

This was a good one.
And New Zealand does a good job of standing in for Montana. -
I loved the heck out of Ghostbusters Afterlife. It was really fun and kind of moving at the end. Cool visual effects too. I don't want to spoil anything but I loved the props and the ending.

"Top Gun: Maverick" is excellent.
It’s beyond excellent. 10 times better than the original in every conceivable way. I’m flabbergasted at how good it is, and I had high expectations going in. Wow.
