Random Rants

I hear you @mclaincausey. How fucking dare they cut into our Iron Heart budget.
If we weren't all generally selfish we would have implemented a wfh plan for anyone who possibly can to raise the middle finger at the fuel companies. Not that it would actually work, but i don't run things anyhow so that's my vote.

It's never as simple as we assume to believe…
I have a mate that works at an ESSO refinery here in Essex, UK. They closed a number of refineries at the start of 2020, even before covid lock downs. Production capacity dropped, but demand didn't.
OPEC+ have agreed to almost double crude oil output for June and July, but that only helps reduce cost if crude csn be refined into diesel and petrol.
There are so many consequences to this issue. Tech industries that depend on online purchases and deliveries have lost share values, delivery drivers are quiting en masse as most are self employed and fuel costs aren't being subsidised, even driving instructors are stopping their work as the cost of driving lessons are untenable for most young people, who form the majority of their customer base.
I fear that this is end of empire economics. Russia and Saudi are no longer looking west, they see their future in the east with China and India.
Biden and Johnson both tried to do deals with Saudi this year, they got a swift kick goodbye, and China got exclusive Saudi oil deals.
Roman, Greek, British, Dutch, French, and now US... All empires come to an end at some time. We are living through an end of Empire.

Until we start figuring out better ways to produce electricity with things other than fossil fuels, though, that electro-Stang is going to run into a similar issue.

I mean, I would definitely like a Mustang.
Somebody hook it up

I do realize the status quo is perhaps a little ridiculous as it pertains to the price of petrol in the States but fuck you, Putin!
mate. I'm paying $4 a litre in Singapore.. how would I love to pay the price you're paying right now.
-
Oh yeah I understand how depressed our status quo pricing is for petrol @louisbosco relative to what it “should” be; that’s what I was trying to qualify my rant with. I also understand how complex the supply chains and trading is for energy (or at least, that it is extremely complex). And I agree with Stuart about where the empire is, though as a major producer ourselves we could have been more strategic with our reserves had we jumped on renewables sooner and more seriously. Short term thinking and greed is what doomed the empire. But I guess that built it in the first place as well.
Still I do blame Putin for roiling global markets. In the end maybe this is the wake up call we needed, but that innocents are paying the price for it is so so sad.

Two kids + 1 dog + 1 cat = Ultimate home destruction…Every Saturday morning is spent deep cleaning the house (or various parts of it). All I want to do is sit on the deck enjoying a cup of coffee.
At least the kids are old enough to clean some of the stuff themselves...and I don't have to go and do it again because of their attempt.
I'm off now to go into their room and if you don't ever hear from me again, I love you all!!

…what kind of an a**hole buys a piece of clothing, receives said piece of clothing, proceeds to douse himself in cologne, dons said piece of clothing in-turn dousing the garment then deciding they're not happy with it for one reason or another and returns it? ???
...that particular species needs to be slapped and sequestered!

vaquero357 I get it, I’ve bought shirts secondhand that have stunk 3-4 washings in. Nasty!

I've had that happen more times than I'd like to recount. Pretty much the main reason I don't buy from End Clothing anymore. Nasty as hell.
-
…in regards to my knee jerk quick to the trigger post on the "rant', in fairness the garment was actually in the 're-love' section so maybe not so egregious. ::) Still, that's alot of stink purdy!
-
…purchased in Outlet, accidentally was sent garment from Re-Love. All taken care of: Don't want anyone catching any heat.

UPS has delivered to my house 100’s of times over the last 10 years…I currently have a package inbound (UHR’s) from IHUK and UPS has decided my address is incorrect.
It is the address I have used for the past 10 years. Someone at sorting has decided that my address city is incorrect and they are trying to fix what isn’t broken…
-
Un-rant…I guess my address does exist and the driver just found me. It’s bloody hot here and humid, so I’ll hold off prepping the UHR’s for a day or two…
