Did a little after wash freeze. An online buddy of mine, Stephen Snider, has a working theory about freezing and fading and indigo and cotton fibers and
It’s just fun to freeze em for a sec and hear them thunk when they fall over, hard as a rock
I’ll post dry photos soon. These are 90 days in, first wash, after a soak and wear 2.5 months ago. -
Cool

Here’s a quick post wash pic…

I bought a pair of these 25oz indigo/black jeans after studying this blog and looking at the pictures. I liked the photos where the older worn jeans would have a fairly unique appearance more like deep indigo rather than black. I assumed that I could accelerate that lightening process by soaking them in very hot water. I tried it at least 3 times, and was surprised to see almost no darkening of the wash water ! Of course the hot water did shrink them, but it was not a problem. I just used my heavy duty waist expander on them while they were hang drying.
-
@zyzzyx I've noticed that also, very little indigo loss during soaks. I guess that's why these are champs of high contrast
-
@zyzzyx Water won’t do much as far as lightening any denim is concerned….
What you lose of indigo on standard jeans during a soak is excess indigo lying on the surface of the fabric. It doesn’t lighten standard indigo jeans as it isn’t removing the dye that has adhered to the cotton. The sulphur dyed warp won’t bleed much anyway so this goes double for indigo/black.
Jeans fade through abrasion and friction. The presence of water in that process is largely incidental. In other words, there are no short cuts. You wear them (a lot), you wash them (when they need it).

Happy New Year Everyone!!
3 Month Update for the Indigo Invitational
90 Wears
Still Dry
Still Stubborn
Loving the Process and still really enjoying the fit of the 777.. Sizing up one was absolutely the way to go. -
Looking good @alexswords! Love the still raw sheen of the denim. Is this pair possibly more stubborn in giving up its indigo than last year's 555-XHSib, or am I imagining this?

@Lowlander So last year i hot soaked early, and soaked again twice more along the way, however, i didn't really see any noticeable indigo transition until about 8 months in but then they just seemed to transform almost over night.. This year i've decided to keep them dry for as long as i can to allow the denim to create as much character as possible.. It's quite interesting to see what kind of affect a slightly different approach and subtle changes in variables will have on the same of denim over the course of 12 months.. I will say this, although rather stubborn, the XHSib is one of the greatest denims i've ever had the pleasure of wearing

Ok, just got done with an 8 day, 80 hour work week ?? and I wore my freshly washed 777s the whole time. Here’s what they look like

Is it time to wash… @Smiladon
Or get mucky more..
Nice fit… I am tempted buy the 777 for that fit, but the problem I will have will change after a soak or wash
It become a different fit in being tighter that the experience I had with my 25oz 777 XHS. ???
Annoy me.Maybe I size up problem solve.
