My Girls:
They are ADORABLE!
First time I've visited this thread, some fantastic photos here. Thank you all!

great work Cris. Those L lenses are special.
dizco, on the R4. My idea is you better be committed to the system if you're gonna invest too much money. The camera body is not so much important as the lens system… Are you sure you want to embark down the Leica R path? Of course there are adapters for other bodies, but is it worth it? Are you going to shoot film totally, or just for fun? The price of that camera plus lens is probably not bad for a piece just to have fun with.

i already got an 135/2.8 elmarit, and yep it's just for fun :-*. i use canon and i also planning to buy 135/2 L so elmarit would be a surplus…that's why i need R body to pair with it ;).

The Canon 135 f/2 is a beautiful lens. I shoot photos for the University of Iowa women's gymnastics team. These were all shot with that lens on a 5D or 1DII
Color is off on this one, but that's my fault for not putting effort into WB (and awful lighting)
This one is a bit of a miss, but it's right in the 135's sweet spot

so i've been contemplating to buy this old (and fairly affordable) beast
any thoughts?to cop or not?If the price is right you should grab it. My main camera is a Minolta XD which is the same body as the R4 – it's a great camera, well-built and compact. Only have one lens for it and that's my entire "system".

Rodinal is still available, albeit under different trade names. Here's one of them: http://www.adox.de/english/ADOLUX/ADOLUX/ADONAL/ADONAL.html

Agfa says R09 One Shot is the same formula as Rodinal but there seems to be a lot of internet debate about whether it's true. I want to like Rodinal but my results with it have been far too inconsistent because of its sensitivity to time/temp/agitation/etc.

any thoughts?to cop or not?I also have an R4 and I like it. Not that well built, electronics might fail (mine gets "stuck" once in awhile and has to be reseted by releasing the shutter mechanically) but if the price is right and you get it with a lens - go for it. If the body fails you can always keep the lens and go for an all mechanic Leicaflex SL - like I did.

I only used a very expired sample of the Agfa stuff once for some test shots, but the results were amazing. I don't think I have any scans of those negs. The professor of the photo class I was taking was mad that I used his Rodinal supply for throw away shots
