Sizing and stretch question
I normally wear a tagged size 29-30 in Oni and PBJ’s slimmest cut. I have an actual 32 waist. All my jeans when measured using the IH method measure approx 31-32. I like my jeans on the slim side and I’m super picky about how rear pocket spacing looks like when the seat is too wide.
So, do you think I should go for a 30 or 29 in this cut? After reading this whole thread I’m leaning towards the 30 but I’m so used to picking jeans with a 29 measured waist (measured by blue&green, Denimio, self edge) that I’m afraid to pull the trigger. I’m fine thigh-size in either side but don’t want the droopy bum effect once fully stretched out. Tia

You should factor in 0.5” shrinkage and 1” stretch in the waist, so you will end up around 0.5” over published measurements. Obviously that is a rough estimate (albeit based on experience), but they generally end up a little bigger than they started.
Judging by the web store measurements w30 is what you want. Bare in mind that Oni and PbJ often have bigger waists than tagsize suggests.

@Tightisright it sounds like we have very similar measurements. My go to size tends to be 29 as well. My 555XHSib is a tag 29, but from an earlier iteration where the sizing ran larger than presently. The waist measurement at the start was 30.5 (same as the current tag 30 waist measurement). I have sometimes regretted not going for tag 28, which was available then and which would have given me a trimmer top block fit. But it would have been a real squeeze for my legs and knees, which I now think would not have been pleasant in the longer run.
So I agree with Neph that the present iteration's tag 30 would seem best! If there are multiple pairs available, you can always ask the crew to find you the smallest pair.
Btw, if you like slim jeans and a fitted top block, the 777 might be a good cut to consider?

Indeed… probably a better call in terms of the fitted top block.

Thanks for the info guys! I did some pretty heavy research into the 777’s but I’m missing a pair of nice slim straight jeans In my collection. Also, a mid/high rise sounds very appealing to me right now.

Just so you know, the 555 is only straight from the knee down, the thigh has some serious taper down the knee.

How long it will take to see a restock for this wonders?? We left November behind…
