IH-555S-SBG - 21oz Selvedge Denim Super Slim Cut Jeans - SBG
-
@Crispy Heron will 'one pair is black, one pair is blue' not suffice? If you are really at risk of being in deep sh*t you could always stack a pair and have them delivered after an appropriate amount of time has elapsed. I can neither confirm nor deny online whether I have or am currently utilizing this strategy on the Prontos…
Like it….

Did someone say on here that this denim might not stretch as much as the OG 21oz Indigo? The IH-555S-21 are my only reference and I take a 33 in those. Even though I've lost weight over the Covid years, I'd probably stick to that if I bought another pair of IH-555S-21s now (assuming same measurements obviously).

The SBG does seem to be a little more resiliant to stretch than the indigo version. Something to do with the different dying processes I’f imagine.

Just received these, and unfortunately I think they’re too tight for me??
The waist is perfect but I don’t feel comfortable with how tight they are, especially in the thighs. Size up or should I look for another fit?

I think the problem with sizing up with the 555 is that if the waist and block are too loose you end up with a diaper/sagging seat. The thigh might loosen up a tad but I dont remember my pair stretching all that much.

@cricca I’ve seen tighter 555 fits.
I agree with @Anesthetist that sizing up would be a bad move. The top block on these fits you perfectly and a bigger top block plus stretch will leave you deeply unsatisfied.
I’d say you have three options:
1. stick with them. They look slim for sure, but they look good too. While thigh stretch is minimal, they will relax quite a bit after a couple of weeks wear.
2. Look at other iterations of the 555. Some have slightly larger measurements at the same tag size.
3. Try the 777. Smaller top block and lower rise than the 555, but more room in the thigh and knee.

Can't comment on this cut as I have large thighs and only ever bought and wore 1955, 634 and 888.
However, my experience is that if you're unhappy with the thighs (e.g. if the thigh area doesn't feel or look right because it's too tight), you won't feel almost any differently about them when you've broken them in.
Thus, if the waist feels right but the thighs don't, you need a different cut or the same cut but with different measurements that suit you better. Also, how you feel when you wear your clothes matters more than how you look in them.

I think I'll have to return them. I've got a pair of 555-xhs and they're not as tight as these. I feel that my legs are too skinny as they are. With a jacket on I would not feel comfortable .
In general, do you think I should size up in 777 compared to 555? -

Measurements are more important than tag size. On the IHUK website there is «Compare» function. Run that with your IH-555-SBG’s and whatever 777 model you fancy. Find the 777’s that match the waist of your 555’s and make sure the thigh and knee on the 777’s is bigger.

If I compare 555-xhs to 555s-sbg, size 31 in xhs equals size 32 in sbg, but sbg are one washed. Haha jebus, this is not easy

@cricca I,personally, really like the way the jeans look on you,and I think over time they’ll look even better. My question is what kind of footwear would you be wearing with these,as they look pretty tight in the hem area.
I live in Sweden so, Dr Martens boots in the winter, i guess
otherwise, "slim" Vans or whatever. But the thing is, my legs are so skinny, I should not wear jeans that look THAT skinny. As i wrote, my XHS dos not have that look at all .
Size 32 or XHSbb, but another 100 Euros… I dont know ???

This is for a number of reasons, the two main ones being that XHS shrinks, so will be closer to the W31 SBG after a wash, but also due to the nature of the denim, thicker denim, fatter seams, give bigger external measurements.
Regarding W32 SBG, consider the waist on your size 31’s, then add two inches (one for sizing up, one for stretch). Will they be too big?
