Coronavirus (Covid-19) Discussion

I got the booster (Moderna) on Friday, felt beat up yesterday, but not as bad as after the second shot. Doing great today.

International travelers are now allowed to come to the US if they are fully vaccinated.

Has anyone else seen this shit?
How SARS-CoV-2 in white-tailed deer could alter the course of the pandemic : Goats and Soda - https://www.npr.org/sections/goatsandsoda/2021/11/10/1054224204/how-sars-cov-2-in-american-deer-could-alter-the-course-of-the-global-pandemic
I have lots of questions.
1. Aren’t deer always outside?
2. Who the hell is getting close enough to a deer and breathing in its face long enough for it to catch Covid then go on about it’s merry way?
3. Can’t we just give the deer all those shitty J & J vaccines?I should just stop reading the news.

@SKT:
Got my Moderna booster yesterday and feeling a little fatigue today…much like ROman. Nothing like after my initial 2nd dose thankfully. Kids on deck for Thursday. Can’t get here soon enough.
Got mine this morning. Kids got theirs this afternoon. Pretty pumped. Or at least I was until I read about the deerpocalypse.

@Matt I am really happy for your family…it’ll be a big deal for us tomorrow. Also, my fatigue and feeling a bit “shitty” lasted about 1 1/2 days after my booster. Feel great today so hope your experience is the same or even better.
As for the deer, nothing surprises me at this point…

@SKT you may not have to deal with this but after their shot I got a msg saying there were no follow up appts available 3 weeks out. I had to go back in and find appts myself but they were out there. I think it looked for one at the location we were at instead of looking everywhere. Just a heads up.

My fiancée and I both got our boosters last night. Pfiser for me and Moderna for her..They had a station set up at a local brewery of all places. I slept like crap last night and kind of feel groggy this morning. I'm going to head to work but might leave early if I don't feel better. It's not horrible by any means but I really wish I could stay in bed. I woke up around 1:30 because I sweated through a heavy IH tee and had to change for a fresh one.
Amanda reacted poorly to her second dose and is snoozing now. Hopefuly her booster isn't as bad. Fortunately for her, she still works from home.
No regrets here but damn my arm hurts.

Got my third shot last friday (BioNTech/Pfizer, after AstraZeneca in Feb and Mai) together with seasonal flu. No side effect except some muscle pain at the COVID injection site for about 24hrs. Was much worse after the first Astra, when I had a night with quite bad chills. But no complains, just glad that I can get this.

I couldn’t get my booster fast enough. I got it before they opened them up to everyone. The pharmacies weren’t asking any questions either. I think they wanted everyone to get them anyway. They were trying to give out all the shots. They were like Flu Shot? Got it thanks. How about shingles? Dude, how old do you think I am? I only felt bad after my second shot, all three Moderna. The 1st and third were just soreness on the arm. Now that omicron, my least favorite Transformer, is here I hope more people get boosted.

I had exactly the same experience as Matt–went before my time, no one cared, and only the second of 3 Moderna shots generated symptoms.
I am hoping that the infectiousness of Omicron is indeed paired as suspected with less severe infection. Then it could be a strain that at least generates antibodies as it runs through the population.

I read about some decent research today about this today. It seems that the same changes that make it super spreadable also prevent it from going into the lungs where the earlier variants have done the damage.
It seems to reproduce very quickly in the nose mouth and throat, generating a high viral load, but can’t travel further. The article also stated that updated vaccination provides 75% protection, which is more than previously thought.
