IH-9526PJ - 21oz Non-Fade Denim Modified Type III - Superblack
-
Hey everyone, been awhile since I last posted. I picked up my 9526PJ in 2020 right before the US went into quarantine lockdown. Jacket’s been thru a ton since then, wore it almost daily in 2020, then pretty sparingly the following year. It’s back on full rotation now so I’m excited to see how it continues to progress.

Hello, first time posting a question on this forum. Looking for a jean jacket for road rash protection when skateboarding at certain spots. I was all set to buy a 526Lod aka ‘cotton armor’ but it’s sold out and seems like it will be for a while. In lieu of that jacket I am considering either the 9526PJ or the 526J-22OD. I love both but wonder which of the two is more durable…this might be negligible but I’m very curious, never having handled either jacket. Seems like the weight of the denim alone is not necessarily the determining factor as with the 526Lod where the weave and dye process apparently make that technically lighter 19 oz jacket the most durable Type III denim jacket.
Any suggestions on which of these two is ‘tougher’ would be greatly appreciated. -
Any one of these jackets will, obviously, give you more protection than nothing, but maybe the 22OZ jacket would give slightly more road rash protection. If you're an All The Gear All The Time type person, then you might consider which one would be most comfortable to wear all the time.

That being said, coming off your deck and getting violently aquainted with asphalt, is going to be made easier by thick, heavy denim whether it is 19, 21 or 22oz.
The 9526 is super tough, but stiff af, while the 22oz is perhaps 1% less tough, but much more comfortable. So either would work, but the 22oz may have an edge. On the other hand the superblack denim looks super evil and rad.

@sabergirl @chris_w it's actually the IH-9527J restocking which is the Rider's Jacket, not the Type III. Apologies for the confusion!

Was able to score one of these on another website. Cannot wait for it to come in. It’s going to be my new riding jacket. It’ll be my first denim jacket from Iron Heart

It’s here! Fits like a GLOVE. Couldn’t ask for a better fit. I was worried that a 3XL would be too big but I wanted to be able to wear it over a UHF. Even with just a tshirt it’s just right. Sleeves are the perfect length for riding too -
@tody lol yeah that’s a pain in the ass. Took me 10 minutes

I tried one in a large size I would say I’m between sizes but the large being more comfortable boy did I love this one

@Mindfulbiscuit looks good with that madras shirt man!

@Heavy_blue thanks the 21oz is a bit heavy for me this time of year but go September I’m definitely considering
