Stunning pair of jeans @alexswords! Really awesome. I wonder what the folks of the indigo invitational will have to say about them…

Ok guys. I’ve decided that the 555 is close but no cigar when it comes to my favorite fit. What I look for first of all is fit. Are the jeans actually long enough for me, 36” inseam at the least. Second I look for fit, I am freshly emancipated from low rise skinny jeans (think Levi’s 511 selvedge) and now realize that I like a little hem down there, around 8” flat. Fit also includes the butt, I like to show off my better than average (at least that’s what my mom says)((sorry to get all Oedipus)) butt, and I like a tight crotch. These last two present problems for me with the 555 (XHSib only one I own)
I’ve tried washing just the top in hot water, but there is no more shrink in em. Maybe I’m noticing it more now that it’s summer. I.D.K.
I’m starting to think the 777 might be my jam. I have the PIHXHS and it’s very comparable to a 777, in my opinion.
Can anyone here offer any thoughts on this, if you’ve worn 777 and 555. I have long legs but I also have a long torso ️
Thanks y’all
Here’s my PIHXHS. Notice the absence of crotch bunching. I’ll post an example in a bit.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

@Smiladon the 555 has a roomy top-block, no doubt. It gives a relaxed look front and back. If you have junk in the trunk and slimmer legs then it is perfect.
777 has a much lower rise and a different taper. The top block is certainly more fitted. Your pronto collabs look great on, but do compare dims closely with your 777 of choice. The Pronto tapered cut is perhaps closer to the 777 than the 555 but is not the same as either. The rise is slightly higher than the 777 for example and the taper not as pronounced. I own the PxIH10ANT and love them for having a slightly wider leg than the 555 and a slightly higher rise than the 777. It helps that they are made of superlative denim.
Two outlier options I think you could consider are the 666 and 888. The 666 has the best fitted top block of any IH jean imho. Trim at the front and back with a medium low rise. With your loooooong legs the lack of taper won’t matter and the thighs are pleasingly slim. It is a great classic cut on the right body (think 60’s movie star/cowboy), and was designed for and by a leggy gazelle like you by the name of @Giles. Also you’ll be spoilt for choice regarding denim.
While the 888 has a relaxed leg and high rise, the top block is pretty sculpted thanks it tapering upwards to the waistband. You can size down in them easily due to the fit, giving a slimmer leg. It is very versatile.
New cut research/decision making is awesome and scary. Good luck.

Would a good tailor be able to take care of my crotch and bum prob?

You’re thinking about plastic surgeons, not tailors, although the latter could do something with your jeans. Anyhoo…
Work like that, especially on heavy jeans, you’d need a denim specialist. Personally I am not a fan of that kind of alteration (or any alterations other than hemming). That is just me though. Indigo Proof and Railcar are the two I’ve only heard good things about, with Rain at Indigo Proof regularly being described as a magician.
But are your 555’s really that problematic? I have the impression that guys find a percieved problem and it grows out of all proportion in their minds, so they get them tailored. Often to my eyes the result is «meh».

@Smiladon The 555XHSib in my Tag size 36 came up a little bit bigger in the thighs and butt, than all my other 555s,which are 21OZ. If you compare the measurements of your 555s with the 21OZ denim you might notice this as well. I went to my local tailor who is an old school European tailor, and showed him how the jeans looked on me. He said he could make it better, and I decided to roll the dice. They came out much better,I was much happier, and he charged me $55. He had to use to use the machine that he sews leather on to complete the alteration. I have had repairs done by Rain at Indigoproof and she is indeed a Wizard.

That’s what I feared. It’s really just me, no one else cares about how my jeans fit, besides my wife, and she’s never said anything about those areas.

I think I know what you're going through @Smiladon. With my own pair of 555-XHSib, I continuously feel that I might have sized down and have achieved a more perfect fit. The feeling is exacerbated when occasionally you see people posting here whose fit looks better than your own (I mildly envy if not resent @alexswords for this in particular ;)). I've considered actually buying another pair, except for my wife who told me that I'm the only one fretting about this and that I was being silly. I guess it's understandable. This gear is expensive, we spend a lot of time racking our brains before be make an order, so you want things to be perfect. I've stopped caring too much about this pair of jeans after I read somebody on this forum (maybe @steelworker) wisely state that the "failures" are part of the fun of high end denim too. You learn from your mistakes and get ever closer to the grail. So I'm now enjoying my pair a lot, and know that even though it may not be a 100% perfect fit, it's still is a pretty amazing pair of jeans that gets better after every wear. Actually, I remember you writing earlier on this forum that this pair of jeans was your favorite ever. So for what it's worth my advice would be to hang on to that sentiment and forget about your worries. Also: your fit on this pair looks pretty great to me!

she’s never said anything about those areas.
Now that is a sad story. Luckily for you there is a website you can visit where men you’ve never met can pay attention to those areas, and others too! [emoji6]
I’m glad someone got my little joke[emoji6]

@Smiladon @Lowlander my dudes. I have found that the only way you're going to achieve the ass and crotch highlighting fit is to size down to an almost unbearable fit at first… i'm talking sucking it in and holding your breath for the first week or so and eventually you'll find they give and stretch in all the right places.. Also I will say that the lower rise of the 777 will give you that more bunched look you're after but, you'll have to sacrifice the wider hem..
Once you've landed on the CUT keep a close eye on the measurements of all the different releases because they do vary widely, even within the same model. for example i have the 555-01 the 555-03 and 55XHSib all in a tag size 31, the 01 is by far the slimmest and tightest of all 3, the 03 is my favorite fitting of all of them, I'm not sure why but they fit me so well and the comfort is through the roof, the XHSib fit well but not as well as the 03. The point is, there is A LOT of variance even if subtle that can make a huge difference in the way they fit so when you do finally find that pair that "just fits perfectly" remember those measurements and you'll be on your way to peace of mind when it comes to spending the big bucks.
These are now 12 months old and they've just now started to be the super comfy jeans everyone talks about XHS eventually becoming.

@LowLander & @AlexSwords
I think I was just in a manic moment when I write that. But I did recently express the idea of sizing down to a 35Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Dang it, that sent before I finished.
Anyway a 35 in the 555 01, when chatting with @oaktavia.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I also had just washed too, so my thighs are tighter than normal.
Mostly was just wondering if the rise on the 777 is truly low. I tend to have more blow outs with low rise jeans (think Levi’s 511)
But thanks for all the feedback guys. Hope everyone is doing good!

It is low enough to show of my thong when I bend over, if that helps…. ahem.
You will notice a major difference between the 777 rise and the 555 rise for sure.
Otherwise @alexswords is right about sizing variations. The type of denim also plays a role in the eventual fit as well because of variations in weave and thickness (thicc-ness?), the denim will stretch and drape differently. All part of the fun.

@alexswords You can't get a better fitting pair of jeans. Epic fades also. I also am going to size down on the next pair of 555XHSib.

I have tried almost every cut IH makes and they are the only jeans I ever wear, but I think from a fashion standpoint none of them are really great for booty showcasing if that's what you are going for. Due to the location and size of the rear pockets which are brilliantly designed for carrying a chunky wallet while straddling a Harley, the placement ends up sitting lower than most other jeans and this creates an optical illusion which is not the most flattering even if you perfectly fill out the top block. Though the higher rise of the 555's does mitigate this to some extent.
