IH-555-XHS - 25oz Selvedge Denim Super Slim Jeans - Indigo

This would be my first XHS purchase –- my best fitting waist measurement is 37.2ish, do you think I could make it work with a size 36 (37.8" waist measurement)? I was hopeful that the measurements for one size of 555-XHS would be in the low 37" range - could I expect it to shrink down to 37" and stay close to 37"?

As a rule of thumb, and according to personal experience then you’ll lose around 0.5” with the hot soak/wash and gain an inch in stretch (although this will happen more slowly than with 21oz for example). So calculate with a desired waist, post stretch at about half an inch larger than measured.
The IH-888-XHSib thread and the thread for the sample pair of the same jeans contain a lot of useful, real life, customer documentation of this kind of thing. More details there.

Can you say that again, please?
I have been reading the XHS and XHSib forums, yesterday I read about 30 pages of the 666-XHS, and some other XHS forums in the last couple months, I'll read some more 888-XHSib this morning. What I have learned is that, is that I am between sizes, and I'll probably be disappointed and have a loose pair after a couple months - I'm just hopeful that I'm wrong. -

Measured waist is what you start with. Desired waist is what you want to end up with. You’ll lose half an inch or so in shrinkage. They’ll stretch out about an inch. So if your desired waist is 37”-37.2”, you should look for a pair that starts off around 36.5”-36.7”.
Of course it isn’t an exact science and there will always be some variation but that is how I would approach this.
Edit: In fact that is how I approached it and it worked a treat on my IH-888-XHSib. Deets on the thread. That thread is recent and there were a lot of good forum folks who went to the trouble of publishing their experiences.

Looking at the table you'd be perfect with a W35, which sadly doesn't exist. I'd say you need a small W36 or a large W34. Such a thing may exist.
Couple of bits of XHS wisdom… If you're a masochist and you can make the thigh/knee work sizing down is often the best bet. The denim will stretch and relax, especially at the waist, but it will take time and it won't be comfortable.
On the other hand, the denim is so thick that with a belt you may not feel a larger than normal waist as a problem. So a larger pair may work anyway, if you can't fit the thigh/knee on the smaller size.

My feelings exactly - I am gonna see what they have measured from either direction towards a W35 fit.

I wish they had a smaller leg opening .. I think the 555-01 and 555-03 were spot on for a slim tapered Jean (just my opinion of course).. is there a reason the leg opening measurements have gotten bigger with the releases of the 555xhsib and the 555xhs??
-
To account for shrinkage and the thicker denim I’d imagine.
I'm no sewing guru but I think the opening has to be wide enough to fit a platen through. The 2nd inseam stitch gets sewn right side out so some part of the machine has to fit all the way through the leg. The other 2 seams get sewn inside out. I'm probably wrong. Just a guess.

Very nice indeed @Kasi . I like the daps and the tee too.
Sounds like a solid theory @Filthy . The thickness of the seams will certainly add to the measurements. They are visibly chunkier on XHS iterations than on 21oz jeans.
I am a die hard fan for loopwheel t shirts have quite big collection.
Thanks as always for the input.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
