Changes to The Marketplace

Agree.
Agree with what?
Welcome to the forum. Please note I’m not trying to be nasty here.
I know you want to reach your 20 posts as quickly as possible and I see that you’ve posted in several threads within a few minutes, but it would be great if you added a bit more to your posts. Your 20 will come quick enough.
Apologies. You are correct, was trying to reach the 20 as quickly as possible. I will try be more sincere in future posts.

If we find people are trying to buck our system, then we will just terminate their membership. It does not take a lot to contribute. It's like when I was younger working on building sites, we worked our arses off trying to avoid the foreman and not actually do any work, sometimes it's just easier to do what is expected of you.
We are offering a free service that obviously has value, we only ask a little in return.
-
ah! that will explain that then...
-
@fatpaulh I just deleted your two last posts, and draw your attention to this part of the OP:
"Users with less than 20 posts who wish to access these boards are encouraged to interact with the community and be a part of what we do here. Reaching 20 posts will then happen quickly. Spam posts or shitposting to reach the threshold will result in a permanent ban."

Totally agree. Smart move
-
Must…post….more…
-
Hmmm I had access but don’t anymore. Not sure what happened.
-
@Turnstyle I believe they recently implemented a minimum 20 post requirement in order to access the marketplace.
-
Yikes! I’ve purchased items from the marketplace on at least four different occasions, and now can’t even view the Buy/Sell section. That’s an… interesting… strategy!

The rule was put in place previous to the new platform being brought online. There was an issue with one of the parameters enforcing the rule which was identified and rectified today.
The 20 post rule was put in place to counter spammer/scammer activity and is a useful tool to prevent scams.
Here is the link discussing the rule change initiated last year and is the first post in this thread: https://www.ironheart.co.uk/forum//post/12737
From now on only forum users with 20+ posts will be able to access the Want to Buy, Buying and Selling and Stuff To Trade boards.
The reason for this is an increase in scamming, coupled with a huge increase in low effort, spammy sales threads that link to external sites without providing anymore information.
Sales threads should include the following at a minimum:
Correct details about the item (name, maker, size)
Photographs of the item being offered for sale
Terms and conditions the seller decides upon
A price with specifies currency. The Marketplace is provided by us as a free service and an alternative to the other more costly, generalised sites. It is intended to be used by IH interested people, and concentrate on this brand, other similar brands, or items relevant to the community here. It is intended as a resource for forum users not as an entity in itself.
Users with less than 20 posts who wish to access these boards are encouraged to interact with the community and be a part of what we do here. Reaching 20 posts will then happen quickly. Spam posts or shitposting to reach the threshold will result in a permanent ban.

Change is inevitable! I am glad to see the team is vigilant on making this a safe place for us all. (yes... another post down!)
-
Okay this was a surprise. I thought there was something wrong with the buying and selling page. But if it stops people trying to scam us etc all good.
-
Shame our previous posts in the market place don't count though...
-
@jordanscollected yeah, I probably fall in that category. A newbie here who really enjoys everyone’s opinion and I’ve learned a lot about things. Just not a big poster…I do like the classifieds.
-
Not sure if it is technically possible, but you could allow newbie’s (much like myself) access to marketplace w/o the ability to create a listing? This would allow access while restricting scammers…just a thought:)
