Watches - another OCD problem
-
I dwelled on omega long and hard but couldn’t find a reliable preowned one (focused on the aquaterra or Railmaster in blue) so I went with this new for ability to wear consistently when I’m not wearing my Garmin. Any other experience with this?

The Oris Pro Pilot with the 5 day movement has been getting rave reviews from Hodinkee, etc. I personally like the Kermit version
Did you already buy the Oris? I am a little confused.
-
Ya just got it this week
-
Dude! Love the surly mug. I may have the same one from the Russian Imperial Stout release party many years ago @Dans
-
@Dans congrats man!
-
I’ve been a watch nerd since I was kid. Love them and I own a few nice references.
-
@JDelage very classy and functional addition to the flock! I’ve always thought the Deville deserves more attention so I’m glad you nabbed one. How is the bracelet?
-
I imagine you’re right! Only prob would be all the munchkins and flying monkeys coming after your yellow brick road
-
-
@JDelage That's a nice dressy GMT watch. Is that still being sold? I could not see that from the Omega's website?
-
@the246guy - no, it's a few years old. I bought it from a seller in Japan, on Chrono24. There's not a lot of traveller's GMT produced these days, and most of those are very thick. The best "true" GMT being made right now's probably the Rolex Explorer II, but it's impossible to get. Grand Seiko makes a fair number but they're too thick.

Oh man anyone see Omegas summer blue collection today? i finally got a used Railmaster in blue denim otherwise I’d be saving for that
-
@Dans the blue Omegas are nice, but the highlight of that collection has to be the PloProf, which is the central watch in the below photo. That said, I'd prefer the titanium model from a few years ago.
@JDelage are you getting the Moser?
Singer Reimagined were the original users of the Agenhor chronograph movement that the Moser shares, and they've just unveiled the 1969 models, which are slightly more compact and slightly more retro. They look really nice.

When it comes to watches, like most things - I’m pretty unrefined. I’m hard on my stuff, but I do prefer autos. The Russians fit the bill.
Komandirskiye and Amphibia are fun to mod and hold up well enough, and I dig the weird styling.
-
@WhiskeySandwich "Unrefined"? not at all! I think "cultured" is the word you're looking for
im in the same boat and I swear by my Amphibia for the daily, so much so I built my own from modified parts, on hot days like today I wind up with Yuri Gargarin's face imprinted on the back on my wrist
