IHM-37-BLK - Oiled Whipcord N1 Deck Jacket - Black
-
@Sir_Cuffs-a-Lot I bought it at a stockist retailer
-
@HalfPastNever if you still have tags on it and it’s within 30 days of purchase then any decent retailer should offer a refund or exchange.
I own the jacket in olive and love it, but my collar is perfect. Just looks like this one slipped through QC.
I don’t know if the IH team can offer any further guidance?

I saw someone else ask about this and no one responded so I'll try. Just seeing if someone can ease my mind about this.
My jacket is brand new, never been worn. It looks as though the nap is already worn down and it has creases in it. There are white spots that show up all over the collar. Its very noticeable and (to me) makes it look really cheap. Just wondering if there are reasons for this or what? I know all hides aren't perfect but this doesn't look like a hide issue.

I was the one that asked about it originally...if you look at the pictures of the jacket on BOTH Rivet & Hide and Withered Fig, you can see very similar imperfections/defects as you have posted along the edge of the collar, so clearly more than just one jacket slipped through QC.
Giles replied to my original post and said that it was a camera artifact so I went ahead and ordered from Self Edge...I feel very fortunate that the collar on my oiled black N1 is perfect, but I am saddened to see some of the other jackets resemble the one from the original stockist's images.
I also own two other Iron Heart N1s and they also have perfect collars...

@HalfPastNever Sorry that you have received a product you're unhappy with, il be in touch via email for more information and to discuss this further with you

@HalfPastNever hope it works out for you--never a nice feeling when you invest that much in a garment and aren't thrilled.

Hi can anyone on comment on the difference in feel between the oiled and non oiled N-1?
Not had a lot of experience with waxed/oiled jackets except that I’ve tended not to enjoy the feeling of them - as in the oil coming off on your fingers. Maybe this is more a problem at the cheaper end only?
I’ve been pining for an N-1
For years, hard to find one here in Australia and hard to bite the bullet on a purchase without testing. Thanks
-
@Gimli I have the oiled khaki from last year and have had not experienced any oil to the touch at all. In fact, I happily hang it in a wardrobe with other jackets without any problems at all. It’s like the waxed Barbour style jackets of old where that could be a problem.
I can’t speak highly enough of the jacket.
-
I meant to say NOT like the waxed Barbour jackets of old

@Gimli The oiled IH N1 is NOT at all like a Filson Tin Cloth Jacket, a Barbour Jacket, or a Rogue Supply (all of which I own and enjoy). Those jackets feel noticeably cold and almost wet/damp/oily to the touch.
The process used by Iron Heart is very different and results in a very dry feeling cloth that never has a greasy hand feel and never leaves any residue. It just feels heavier, a bit stiffer, and very windproof, but completely dry to the touch. I think you would love it!
-
@SaddleSC thank you yeah that sounds awesome!
It’s that wet feeling I dislike so much -
@IrishHeart thank you kindly. Very helpful info
-
@HalfPastNever just an update..
As always with IH they took care of it and were more then patient with my indecisive ass. Thank you Adam for all your help and putting up with me. You guys are the best.
-
@HalfPastNever I’ve been following this story. I’m stoked you got the result you wanted. IH customer service could do a Ted Talk on how to treat people and the value of customer service.

Just bit the bullet on a Size S down here in Oz. Fingers crossed it's the right fit as they have no Mediums left. No option to try on within the state I live in. Blueworks (shop here in Australia) went to the effort of shooting a short video of one of their staff in the jacket to help me determine sizing.
It's by far the most I have ever spent, or even dreamed of spending on a jacket! if it fits right it will be the winter staple. -

@seminolepilot looks like a pretty spot-on fit to me! The fact that you're wearing a couple layers underneath it and the XL felt way too big leads me to think that L's your ideal size.
Plus, I think it looks great as is, but if you think you'll lose a few pounds post holiday gorge (boy do I feel ya there), then I'd most definitely stick with L.
-
@seminolepilot all the best people start their IH journey with an N1 (though I might be biased). As the others have said, the fit looks good.

@seminolepilot looks like a fantastic fit to me.
Enjoy the hug!
