@jiminstitches I enjoyed all Fargo seasons but found 4 to be the weakest of them and 5 to be among the best.
-
That was an insane True Detective last night!
-
Ok, CBS. I guess I’m just out of the loop on Must See TV.
Also, “phrasing?!”
-
Haha man, as someone who cusses like a sailor, even I find that pretty coarse.
-
Am I right in thinking that I can dive straight into TD S4 - Night Country without having seen S1-3, or is there mileage in going through them in order? TIA
-
@Nocturama oh no, definitely start from the beginning. It’d probably be pretty damn murky starting at 4 (also this season only has 6).
-
Oh damn @Nocturama never mind I thought you meant episodes.
The seasons are all standalone, so yep dive in.
-
@Nocturama a id definitely watch season 1 though, as it is epic!
-
@jiminstitches 1000% agree there. IMO it’s up near the very top of best television ever.
-
TDs1 is indeed great, but Nic Pizzolatto plagiarized Thomas Ligotti a bit in the writing. It was uncredited and then later cast as an “homage.”
It doesn’t dampen the excellence and enjoyment of the show but kind of a bummer.
-
Ayeeeee that's definitely a bummer.
: : sticks fingers in ears lalalalalala : :

The thing I always say about S2 is that it would've probably been received a lot better if it were called anything other than True Detective. Just a really, really high bar to follow. Even still, it's pretty middling at best.
S3 is kinda worth watching for Dorff, but definitely gets hokey. I'm glad the series seems to have redeemed itself with the new one. We'll see for sure, though — one ep left.

Mrs and I are halfway through this. Some horrific shit is happening to these Australian kid brothers, but it has real Goonies energy. Very compelling viewing. And I’m not sure if I’m supposed to be laughing at the way Australians talk to one another in this, but I find the casual rudeness and insulting very funny.
-
Yep agreed
-
@Jett129 I’m 2 episodes away from finishing it too, she’s brilliant, she’s great in Ted Lasso too.
-
Has anyone seen The English with Emily Blunt? Trailer looked great.
-
@jiminstitches we watched that series. It's the right length at 6 episodes. In the end I was glad I watched it, as there aren't many good western shows these days, but I wasn't running to tell others to check it out.
