The Great Outdoors - Hiking and so on…

Day 3 and hike #3. For many years I wanted to do El Teide, Spains highest mountain with 3,715 m (12,188 ft). Such a beautifully shaped vulcano.
Well, we could neither get accomodation in the refugio for propper acclimatisation nor a permit for the summit. All booked up since months.
So, what we did was an ascent with the cable car (which drops you off 200m below the summit) and then a long (1450m) and very beautiful descent through lava and many different zones of vegetation and geology.
The altitude and the UV light takes it‘s toll. It was wonderful but now we‘re complete knackered. Cheers for reading.

@endo wow, stunning pics! Looks like they came from a travel brochure for Mordor!

@endo Wonderful pictures and I’m glad to see that you’re staying hydrated

@Mizmazzle This place (Teneriffe) is incredible indeed, but also app. 2000 km away from Spain mainland. Unless your friend is not marrying here it will be another flight. In case you want to do some great hiking in Spain (mainland) check out Picos de Europa.

Day 4 on Tenerife and - you get it - hike #4. Since Mrs E turned out to be a little sluggard today and needed a beach day I went solo.
To be honest, I also felt a bit frazzled from yesterday’s tour, so I chose one with very little altitude difference.
Turned out to be very beautiful again. All along the tree line, amidst lava fields and small volcano cones, always the Teide visible in a distance.
And lots of lizzards.

@endo May I ask what app you use to record the data from your hikes? Would be something I’d like to try a bit more of now my daughter isn’t sitting down and refusing to move every 100 metres…

Looks like i was not the only walking IH ad on Tenerife last week. we even did the same hike on Tuesday (Chinyero?) could have shared a beer haha. now what are the chances of that? i’ll take it as a lesson to look here more frequently

Barranco del Infierno
„Skippable“ (good views but very touristy and hot)

Two shorter hikes in the Teide regionHike 1 (can’t recall which one it was, will add later)
beautiful view on Teide and quite relaxed with few height metersHike 2 Round walk at Roques de Garcia, short but absolutely recommended, best with afternoon light
Day 5 (Anaga Mountains)
Round walk from Chamorga to Faro de Anaga (most northern part of the island)
my personal favorite!
