IHJ-129-BRN - Japanese Horsehide Riders Jacket - Brown
-
Hell yeah @ARNC this looks impeccable! Wear it well and welcome to the horse team

Congratulations on the jacket, and perfect looking fit IMHO.
I’ve burned through a lot of money on HH leather jackets, trying to get the perfect fit, I’ve done bespoke, off the rack, multiple brands, patterns you name it.
My conclusion, you need one leather jacket to wear over a tee shirt, and one leather jacket if you want to layer lol.

Received mine also! Awesome jacket! Even intimidating at first… Seems to good to be true… I’ve been waiting to pull the trigger on a leather jacket for so long. Wanted to get it right, and felt in love with this one.
I took my usual IH size ( Large )
I can fit a UHF under it ( a bit snug ), comfortable over a T-Shirt.
Wasn’t sure about the sleeve lenght at first, but they will probably come up a bit.
Thank you to James who found my the shorter sleeve lenght in my size.

Thanks @ARNC
Difficult to capture the deep brown of the leather with a phone! Here are some more accurate detailed shot!
-
@Dimi congratulations great looking fit on you.
The sleeves look perfect and as you said with Horsehide they should pull up a bit with sleeve tunneling as you wear it more.
-
made for you mate you really nailed it
perfect fit -
@ARNC +1

Fit: 38 (M). 38 chest, 162 lbs., 5’9. Snug, but good. Can def fit a UHF but not much more. Sizing up may have been more practical, however, it’s too soon to tell as the jacket is still pretty stiff (approx. 40 hours of wear). Went with average IH size (M), however, sized down from type 3 (typically large).

Is pigment dyed the same as chrome dyed? How does pigment dye vary from veg tanned in how they both age and wear?

@PJS Here is an article from Heddels that explains tanning processes and terminology used associated with tanning:

I will add more information as I find the appropriate resources.

@PJS Here is information regarding dyeing from Y2:

Please feel free to ask more questions after you read through those two pages.

@goosehd much appreciated!

@PJS You are welcome. Here is another article discussing leather grades: https://www.heddels.com/2014/06/overview-guide-leather-grades/
There is quite a bit of information to work through, but all are essential to understanding some of the terminology used.
