Don't you just love a similie.....

Good one. Then there are ones that don’t make sense yet somehow have staying power, like
He was drunk as a skunk!
Are skunks known for being tipsy?

Heard this reference today. “Are you chicken involved or pig committed?” The breakfast plate example of eggs and bacon - the chicken only contributed eggs to your breakfast plate, but the pig really committed!
-
You are right. I re-read the title of the thread more closely and see that my post missed the intent. Definitely not a simile. But it did make me SMILE.

Talk that dirty talk @Matt

Shaking like a shitting dog

One of my faves was, if I recall correctly, Ron Wood talking about Rod Stewart being cheap.
"Rod's tight as two coats of paint."

What’s a meta for?
“A simile is, like, a metaphor.”
—Stephen WrightJust thought of a favorite from the literary realm, the opening line of Neuromancer by William Gibson (an Iron Heart fan, I should note):
“The sky above the port was the color of television, tuned to a dead channel.”
(Not gonna fight anyone about the absence of “like/as”). Talk about a great noir opening that stands the test of time even as though its original intent is dated to a very specific, obsolete technology that younger readers may not understand.
