Motor Sport

@mclaincausey Spa is about to be fun. I’m fairly new to the sport, since 2020ish, but this season rocks. My wife and I have gone back to watch races from previous seasons on the F1 app. I’m so bummed I missed out on this for so long. I never really thought I’d be into motor sports. But here we are, and I’m in.
-
@alexxedge I’m about the same. I enjoyed the sport as a kid as well as rally but not at the level of obsession of these past few years.
-
yeah i've always been into it, and watched it when i could but it's become much more accessible since the app is decent.
-
SPA-FRON-KOR-SHOM! .....french. Dude i love this track.
-
Oh snap that win and that DQ. Too early to spoil it but OUCH
-
@WhiskeySandwich I knew George would find a way to lose it, even after he won it.
-
I dislike George, but that was some of the finest race craft of the whole season in my mind and a shame he was DQed even if I’m pleased Lewis got the wins.
Norris just can’t start a race well and he’s almost starting to look like the #2 at McLaren.
-
i was legit impressed with his ability to hold off Lewis on tires that were toast. He def earned that. But to hear that it was almost entirely tire weight that got him DQed is insane. Thats going to sting going into the summer break.
Norris def needs to work on his starts.
-
When I learned that they can pick up that much marbling on the in-lap after the race has completed I was shocked. It’s also insane just how much deg they lose in a race. Absolutely wild call on George to go for it, and to hold everyone off. Brilliant drive on his part, but that dude has some Leclerc level luck sometimes.
-
There’s a horse and cart argument too. If his car was lighter, it could explain how he was able to manage the tires so well. I don’t think he’s above everyone in the field in regards to tire management skills though obviously tons of factors to consider.
-
whats crazy to me is that they run that close to the weight restrictions. So close that rubber off the tires would end up so risky. makes you wonder how much extra baggage the Alpines were running early this season....
It sure didn't seem like Russell was managing his tires that carefully trying to keep Lewis behind. I think he knew it was a longshot. -
It makes sense though. Think about how they finish races within fractions of a second or seconds of each other over many laps and multiple pit stops. F1 is the pinnacle of tight tolerances.
Seems that plank wear and tire wear were factors.
-
I think Lando could get used to this
-
Lando’s dominance might start to bore fans…
Folks, we have some championship races! What a great race. The season is picking up where it left off before the interminable break.
-
lol it does seem like fans tire quickly of race winners. I was hoping for a bit more battle at the front with those two, but still an awesome season
-
OOF, Antonelli overcooked it. That doesn't show well. Lots of hype, lots of nerves, and a bit too much excitement too early in the day. Yet Sainz ended up on Williams smh. Even his seatwarmer, Colapinto, doesn't appear to be much an improvement over Sargent. 2025 is going to be wild.
-
What’s going on with McLaren? This is Lando’s golden opportunity and it seems like they just haven’t been behind him. “Papaya rules”? Seems like their recent dominance has been a windfall they’re not prepared to manage, and they have a killer driver who seems like he’s not getting backed like he could be. Super psyched to see Leclerc win his two biggest races of the season tho!
-
That Grand Prix this weekend was a fun one, and I feel like the rest of the season has a chance to be just as interesting. Regardless of Papaya rules means, that move Oscar made on Lando was absolutely wild. But, I do think if they want to take the fight to RB McLaren is going to need to sort this out. Either way, it’s more entertaining for me with no dog in the fight. Just sadly watching Bottas in his bright green tractor.
