Blackhorse Lane Ateliers

Hi
I just wanted to bump this thread up to the top and see if anyone has had any experience with this brand? I am torn between choosing from several different brands based in the UK
Blackhorse Lane Ateliers
Dawsons Denim
Hiut Denim
Iron HeartAnd Blackhorse and Hiut are the only ones that have a small enough Hem for the type of jeans I want.
Any thoughts.

BLA - not familiar, interested to find out
Dawson - nice local run outfit from Brighton, decent fabric used, well made
Hiut - generally lighter weights, only seen a couple of pairs, well madeYou've highlighted the two brands that will work for you so my advice would be to take the plunge and grab a pair!

I'm familiar with Hiut. The kuroki selvedge is nice. The construction is ok. I had a pair of their early jeans where the stitching unravelled at the crotch and zip completely, which wasn't cool. I've found their customer service to be only ok/borderline bad at times.
I will preface the following by admitting my bias as an IH fanboy, but I will say with my hand on my heart that the difference in quality between IH and Hiut is much greater than the difference in price tag would suggest.

BLA has their main store in Kings Cross, London with friendly staff and had a full range of their denim when I last popped in. I thought their gear was very nice with a modern feel to it. Unfortunately, the store is closed at the moment cos of Tier 4 COVID restrictions but it might be worthwhile visiting if you can get to London once they reopen again.

I believe BLA is positioning itself as more upscale than workwear and of a boutique nature. A range of fabric weights but don't know how durable they are. I don't have a pair but have been thinking about picking up their NW1 or E5.

I am looking at the E8 slim tapered jeans in japanese denim. However, I am not sure about the colours (and Iron Heart has a wider range). That's one of the things I love about Iron Heart. Their fade gallery is far more extensive. Also if you look at comparable weight of denim (14 oz) the Iron Heart jeans are slightly cheaper.
But the thing that keeps drawing me back is the fit. I find for a nice tailored cut I need a hem opening of 7 inches or less. I was just wondering if anyone had any input on them. Even the 555s and 777s

Their website has a fades gallery that might help you:

What do you normally wear with denims?

Anyone have any experience of their stuff?
After a Type 2 and none of the ones I have tried thus far (Iron Heart / Samurai / various ones in Clutch Cafe) fit (for a variety of reasons). Did look at Dawson Denim but the colour of the denim / thread was not for me. Also looked at Brycelands but has a cinch back.

@Cutlasshound I have a couple of pairs of their chinos. They are well made with nice attention to detail in the finishing.
I found their customer service to be very good too, so if you see something that appeals to you, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed with the quality.
