Oh agreed, if they want to make a legit run at the championship, they need to really set the rules. And be very clear about what’s expected. That first lap was just as tense as the last lap at Monza last year with the Ferraris being cleared to race, but with WAY bigger ramifications if something goes wrong.
-
oh my what a race. Great action and a dramatic end. I think that was an unfortunate and unnecessary incident. IMO, both were equally responsible and i agree with the stewards. Cool to see Piastri get a win that wasn't handed to him. Dafuq is with the investigation for passing under VSC AFTER the checkered flag? He was just giving the thumbs up.
-
@WhiskeySandwich so much happened. Honestly shocked with the end. They both had a chance at catching Leclerc, and ultimately ended their races going to hard after turn 2. Oscar definitely earned that win, he drove so well. I know I’ve been saying it after every race, but I’m loving this season.
-
Great race!!!
Glad to see Piastri get a win and to see two Williams in the Top 10! My favorite things about F1 is I don’t have a favorite driver or team. So a race like this is pure excitement
-
I agree, it's pretty easy to get psyched about any one of them doing good from race to race....Except Lance. lol Luckily, his teammate takes his share of likability.
i kid, i dont wish for anything bad on Lance. -
@Danimal506 my wife and I are the same, we just love an exciting Grand Prix. We have drivers we like, but are not diehard for one team or another. Williams double points was AWESOME. Singapore is about to wild.
-
@WhiskeySandwich lol at “except Lance”.
-
@alexxedge I gotta give my wife credit, she was a fan of Max since his rookie year. She’s a little Dutch herself, so she’s partial. But we both enjoy everyone.
We’ve been to a couple races together. And we’re going to the Friday Practice and Sprint Qualy for the USGP at CoTA this year! Bringing our 2 1/2 year old son along too, so that will be fun! He’s a big fan of the race cars haha
-
@Danimal506 that rocks. We haven’t figured out how to get a race yet. One day!
-
@alexxedge we've been to a few over the years, if you do get a chance to see one - I'd recommend Abu Dhabi - its a great circuit, lots going on, warm, plus great concert after (The Who and Pharrell Williams played at the after race party when we were there)
-
@Steve my wife made friends with one of RBR’s people who lives in Abu Dhabi and invited us to a race there. It wasn’t really on the radar but the opportunity to get in the paddock has placed it as a priority.
We are also planning for Mexico next year.
I was absolutely enthralled by last weekend’s race. I think the skill aside from Checo and Sainz forgetting about each other on the penultimate lap was just staggering.
-
@Steve that’s awesome! Plus the absolute legend Lewis!
-
My wife and I went to the 2016 Italian GP at Monza, a couple friends and I went to CoTA in 2017 for the USGP. My wife and I now live in Austin Texas and have been to the 2021 USGP at CoTA. Next is this years Friday events.
2016 Italian GP at Monza
2017 USGP at Ciruit of the Americas
And if you’re ever in Stuttgart, Germany, the Mercedes-Benz museum is jaw dropping!!
-
VCARB with the denim livery in Singapore this weekend....I prefer the IH haul-wagon livery, personally.
-
@WhiskeySandwich the terrible joke Buxton made about the weight of denim being added to a car, in FP1, killed me.
-
Starting to get really excited for this years race here in Austin! Our parking passes just arrived today and it’s the next race on the schedule!
This will be my sons first time going to see F1, or any race cars really haha He is only 2 and a half, but is a big fan of race cars and Formula 1. We figure Friday will be a relaxed day with less people. Tickets were only $19 to get in!! Compared to $220 for race day. I also have a buddy flying out to come to the Friday with me.
-
@Danimal506 so tempted to impulse my way there. Never been to one in person. Doing MX next season!
-
@mclaincausey With how close this season has been, every race is worth going to.
I went to the race in 2021 the year Max won. It was so exciting to watch Max and Lewis battling it out. Keeping up with the lap to lap timing and seeing in person how close they’re racing each other. And the crowds are so international that it’s a really fun bunch of people.
Race day was a bit chaotic with the amount of people. So with our son coming with us, were going on Friday for Practice 1 and luckily we will get to see them running full spec for the Sprint Race Qualifying.
Mexico City would be such a cool race to go to!!
-
Damn good race in Austin. Hate when it comes down to the stewards but def a good show
-
nice to see a Ferrari 1-2 at COTA
